There are 'm' copies each of 'n' different booksin a university library.The number of ways in which 1 or more than 1 book can be selected is.......................

for first buk dere r (m+1) ways to select a buk (copy) (including no selection) similarly (m+1) 4 the other and for the rest n buks too
hence total no of ways of selecting buks is (m+1)(m+1)(m+1).....ntimes = (m+1)^n but atleast one buk is to be selected hence total no of ways is (m+1)^n - 1.
