i = cos( /2 ) + i sin( /2)

- i = cos ( - /2) + i sin (- /2)

By De Moivre's Theorem,

i = (i) 1/2  = cos (/4) + i sin (/4)

-i = ( - i ) 1/2 = cos ( - /4) + i sin ( - /4)

Therefore,

i + -i = cos (/4) + cos (-/4) = 2

Cheers !!!
