/2 ) + i sin(

/2)

- i = cos ( -

/2) + i sin (-

/2)

By De Moivre's Theorem,

i = (i) ^1/2= cos (

/4) + i sin (

/4)

-i = ( - i ) ^1/2 = cos ( -

/4) + i sin ( -

/4)

Therefore,

i +

-i = cos (

/4) + cos (-

/4) =

2
