in a conference of 10 people including A,B,C,D..all have to deliver a speech. what is the probability that A speaks before B and D speaks before C?

arrange all the speech givers in 10! ways

now see that in each case either A is ahead or B
due to symmetry exactly half cases A speaks b4 B
so P=1/2
similarly for second case
so
P=1/2*1/2=1/4
