The first Number between 1 to 1000........which when divided by 7 gives 1 remainder is 8......and the last one is 995.......so total such numbers are.....142.......using Arithematic Progression.......

and thus req.Probability  = 142 / 1000 = 71 / 500........

~cheers.....

Find the number of numbers congruent to 1 mod 7. there are 143 such numbers as 1000/7 is 142.8666. so ans is 143/1000. BECAUSE 1 is also 1 mod 7.

1000/7 = 142.857142

142*7=994

So there are 142 numbers which give the remainder 1 when divided by 7.

Hence, P = 142/1000

                  = 71/500
