hi, i am ajay preparing for jee-2007, i have read ur question ,i thought of answering it heres my ans , its like this check out for getting 7and 8 as the maximum u can get is 8by 2,2,2,2in four matches and 7 u can get by 2,2,2,1 right now 2,2,2,2implies that u should get 2 and 2and 2and 2 so multiply the probabilities of getting 2, keep it aside.and for 7 u shd get 2 and 2and 2and 2so multiply the probability of getting 2, three times as there are three 2sand lastly multiply with probability of getting one just add the both ans u got and thats ur ans,why to add is bcoz to get atleast 7 implies 7 or 8 " nou all the best "

Total probability = probability of getting 7 + probability of getting 8
favourable Cases for 7 - 2,2,2,1 ; 2,2,1,2 ; 2,1,2,2 ; 1,2,2,2
Probability of getting 7 = (0.5)(0.5)(0.5)(0.05)*4
Probability of getting 8 = (0.5)(0.5)(0.5)(0.5)
Total probability = 0.0250+0.0625 = 0.0875

Total points can be 7 in following cases
(2,2,2,1), (2,2,1,2), (2,1,2,2) and (1,2,2,2)
so total probability = (0.5 x 0.5 x0.5 x0.05) x 4

The Scientist does not study nature because it is useful; he studies it because he delights in it, & he delights in it because it is beautiful. If nature were not beautiful, it would not be worth knowing, life would not be worth living. Ofcourse I do not here speak of that beauty that strikes the senses, the beauty of qualities & appearances; not that I undervalue such beauty, far from it, but it has nothing to do with science; I mean that profounder beauty which comes from the harmoniuos order of the parts, & which a pure intelligence can grasp. |
