a,b,c are non zero numbers az2 + bz + c + i = 0 has purely imaginary roots... then find a.

Gentleman! Ur statement is wrong.
As u hav mentioned that roots r purely imag. & we know that imaginary roots always occurs in conj. sys.
So, roots must be of type ki and -ki
where k is any real no.
so, sum of roots is 0.
Hence b=0.
But u hav mentioned that a,b,c r non zero nos.

Aur maine kab kaha ki a,b,c real hai.
Infact , to satisfy above conditions b must be =0
and out of a and c, atleast one must be imaginary...
U can check..

@lokesh: non-real roots come in conjugate pairs when the coeffs are all real. If a,b and c are not given to be real then you cannot assume the roots to be conjugates.

hsbhatt sir ,lokesh first assumed that(which is certainly a wrong assumption) but if you see the last line he himself says

therefore he realised his assumption is wrong
