eq. ax2 + bx +c =0 and
3x2 +x-5 = 0 hav common root
then wat is value of 3a + b + 2c
plz ans .i dunno ans.

dude the condition for a common root is
(c1a2-c2a1)square=(b1c2-b2c1)(a1b2-b1a2)
u get the big eq manipulate and get the nas..i think it will cme out to be 0

ans is 0. soln : - let t be the common root. at2 + bt +c = 0 = 3t2 + t - 5. on compairing , a = 3, b = 1 & c = (-)5. hence the ans is 0.

Dear,
let the roots be t1,t2
so from eq. [1]
t1+t2= - b/a and t1 t2 = c/a
and from [2] :
t1+t2= - 1/3 and t1 t2 = - 5/3
so b/a =1/3 or a=3b
and c/a = - 5 /3 or 3c = - 5 a
or 3c = -15b or c= -5b
then finally a=3b and c= - 5b
then 3a + b + 2c= 9b +b -10b=0

HEy...the Q was they have 'a' common root...
so only one root is common and not both...
