QUADRATIC

1.what are real zeroes???????

2.is rational or irrational???

3.whats the condition for an equation to have atleast 2 real roots, one real root

plzz tell me everything related to this atmost 2 real roots , atleast 2 real roots, atmost one real root, atmost 2 real root [ for polynomials to the power greater than 2 i mean cubic equations and so on]

1) Roots are called real if they have no imaginary part.

2) \frac{\sqrt{2}+1}{3} is irrational.

3) for real roots the discriminant must be greater that or equla to zero.

i.e b^2-4ac\ge 0

 for 2 real roots D>0

For 1 real root D=0

For no real root D<0

where D= b^2-4ac

use descartes rule of signs
maximum no of +ve real roots of polynomial equation f(x)=0 is the no of sign changes in f(X) and max no of -ve roots of f(x)=0 is no of sign changes in f(-x)
x^3+5x^2+7X-4=0
sign is +++- sign change =1 so 1 +ve root
x^4+3x^2+5 has no real roots since there is no sign change in f(x) and f(-x)
