2,root 6,4.5........are d folowing termz of an A .P (a) 101st, 207th ,309th (b) 101st ,201st, 301st (c) 2nd ,6th` ,9th (d) none of these just tellme hw 2 approach such sums.......... plz gimme a detailed solution.........

the difference of the numbers , 4.5 - root6 and root6 - 2 cannot be expressed as integral multiples of the same no. so the answer is (D)

if there are 3 nos. a,b,c.
let a,b,c be the 1st,pth and qth terms of an AP, then b= a+(p-1)d , c= a+(q-1)d
c-b=(q-p)d
b-a=(p-1)d
in other words, the difference of the nos. shd be expressed as integral multiples of the common difference 'd'. For this we have to find the GCD of (c-b) and ( b-a) . this is 'd'.
now find p and q appropriately .

A(n) = A + (n-1)d
just use this formula to form required equations then solve the equations.
