 a trapezium of height 1/root2

and parallel side of root2 and 2*root2 would be formed:-

area=1.5

see for finding that root 2 ,use the concept of distance between two parallel lines formula....as the lines are parallel ....and then for that 2/root 2 ...find the length of the hypotenuse for the second line---y=2-x and then subtract from it the lenght of the base of the rectangle (as u divide the trapezium in 2 right triangle and one rectabgle) which is equal to root 2 the length of the hypotenuse of the right triangle formed byu the first line....y=1-x!
