multiple allelism means presence of more than two different alleles coding for different traits with or without same intensity but for all coding for same character.... eg... self incompatibility of pollen grain in mustard... dichotomy means branching...into two parts.. so, phenotypic dichotomy must mean that two entirely opposite phenotypes... phenotypic trichotomy may mean 3 different types of phenotype.. dichtomous branching is production of two different branches....

The existence of several known alleles of a gene
Example: ABO blood grou consist of 3 types of alleles, A, B, and allele O. Any of which can pair and form a phenotype
dichotomy means branching into two parts so, phenotypic dichotomy means the two phenotypic variation within an organism. phenotypic trichotomy may mean 3 different types of phenotype
