The Tapetum is a layer of cells that is found within the pollen sac, a nutritive tissue within the sporangium, particularly within the anther. Tapetum is important for the development of pollen grains. The cells are usually bigger and normally have 2 nuclei per cell (polyploid). It helps in pollenwall formation, transportation of nutrients to inner side of anther, synthesis of callase enzyme for separation of microspore tetrads. The secrete pollenkit, which is teh insect attractant and als have Ubisch bodies which coat the pollen with sporopollenin to prevent its dessication and any reaction.

hi
tapetum In many nocturnal mammals, a layer of cells either in the retina or outside it,
in the choroid (e.g. in cats), which contain crystals of zinc and a protein (often riboflavin,
which fluoresces). The tapetum reflects light back through the retina and so increases the
sensitivity of the eye to dim light. At night, when the pupil is fully dilated, reflected light from the tapetum
will cause ‘night shine’ if the animal turns to look in the direction of a sudden bright light (e.g. car headlights) !!!!!
