Find what's wrong with the proof:

    16 - 36 = 25 - 45

 (42) - (2 * 4 * 9/2) = (52) - (2 * 5 * 9/2)

 (42) - (2 * 4 * 9/2) + (81/4) = (52) - (2 * 5 * 9/2) + (81/4)
                                                                               (Add  (81/4) on both side)

 (4 - 9/2)2 = (5 - 9/2)2
                                       ( (81/4) = (9/2)2 and applying a2 - 2ab + b2 = (a - b)2 )

 4 - 9/2  =  5 - 9/2                               (Taking positive sq. root on both sides)

   4   =   5  .......???

              TRY AND FIND OUT !!!!!!!

pavan ur last but 1 step is wrong....what do u mean when u say 'taking +ve root'???....a squared =b squared doesnt imply a=b.....it implies either a=b or a+b=0,latter being true here.

Wonderful cooldude but tell me How can we make the last step true here?

(4 - 9/2 )sq = ( 5 - 9/2 )sq
u dont solve this equation by jus takin sq root u have to bring terms to one side to form asquare - bsquare type of equation
and u get 5 - 9/2 = 9/2 - 4
which is true as 9/2 is 4.5 and it lies between 4 and 5

hey pavan
-10=-10
is not a correct form of eqation only hence ur eqn.
16 - 36 = 25 - 45
is not crct. hope u get it

4- 9/2 = 4- 4.5 <0

square root of x^2 is given by |x|....so here square root of (4-4.5)^2 will be |4-9/2| = .5
and 5-9/2>0 so square root of (5-9/2)^2 = 5-9/2

that means we are getting right result...i.e. , .5=.5
