It was World Day against Child Labour yesterday and it struck me that there are children who never get to touch those books that some of the students despise. Isn't that ironical? Two complete different situations and two completely different attitudes. Why is it that if given a chance, students from humble background outshines their urban counterparts? Is it possible that all those facilities they enjoy somehow rot them?
When a child is sent to a school, he does not just gather facts but he gets educated- learning and exploring various facets of life, something that you do not learn while working at a factory, the only concern then is money and food. Yet, there are students who turn violent at the mention of studies. Many are too busy watching TV or playing videogames or checking out the hippest nightclub, well the list is long. Since, you do not study low grades are but obvious then follows pressure from parents to do well and the problem starts getting more complicated. You hate your parents at that moment and you hate the way your life has turned out to be. You think of everything but finding the best solution for the problem, which is as simple as the problem, take some time out from your busy schedule and study.
Just try to put yourself in a deprived one's situation and then you will realize that your problems are nothing compared to theirs. You should be thankful that you are at least given a chance to explore various colours of life. When you take study as a burden, it turns out to be the same. Try to generate interest in the subject and you will find it much easier to study. Studying is not just about cramming and vomiting it out and scoring high in exams. Studying is your brain?s fuel that helps it in remaining innovative. So, the next time your parents force you to study, for a change do it. Studying is important cause if you do not study you are just like that child cleaning tables in a dhaba- both of you are uneducated, with the slight difference that you are the one who orders (and does not protest against child labour) while he is the one who serves (and also does not protest against child labour).
The next time you go about cursing every single thing in your life, remember somebody yearns for them. Show gratitude for what you have and try to stop child labour.
