Exam Date and Pattern
After a clash between the IIT’s committee and Union Minister Kapil Sibal, finally good news comes for students. The good news is not about the pattern of the IIT- JEE entrance exam but about the quick decision taken by the IIT’s committee. A new eligibility criterion is introduced for IIT-JEE entrance exam which will going to be held in academic year, 2013. A new formula come to picture according to which class XII marks are taken in consideration with JEE scores to count the final result.

| IIT-JEE eligibility criteria 2013 |
Despite of clash between Union Minister Kapil Sibal and IIT council, still IIT Council manages to take a stern decision. The directors of various IIT’s reported a compromise formula under which only top 20 percent students of each state that are belonging to each educational board are allowed to give the mains entrance exam. The class XII marks decides whether you are eligible for the test or not? In order to be eligible for the IIT-JEE entrance exam 2013, you have to be among the top 20 percent students of your state else your mission to IIT-JEE will be at stake?
What else required for getting entry in IIT JEE entrance exam? The 20 percent top students of each state will be selected to appear for the mains entrance exam. The council of IIT directors including the chairman of each institute called a meeting to decide, when IIT-JEE entrance exam 2013 will going to take place?, Only top 20 percent students are eligible for IIT JEE entrance. It does not mean that IIT entrance exam is based on class XII marks only but students have to score high in mains exam too. The mains exam is taken by the CBSE. The results of mains exam and class XII percentage are integrated to decide whether you are selected for advanced entrance or not?
The IIT- JEE eligible test will consist of two exams- main test and advanced test; both of them will take place on separate days. The first test is conducted by the CBSE and second test is expected to take place one month after the first test and conducted by the IIT’s. Only top 1.5 lakh students passing the first exam are carried for the next entrance exam. Finally, we can say that each test has its own importance. The CBSE class XII result, mains test result and advanced test result decides your future in IIT colleges.
The meeting of the IIT directors and chairmen are successful because earlier some IIT’s shown clash with common entrance exam but now all IIT’s come to same conclusion and sorted out all the doubts. There is still doubt for other engineering colleges whether colleges go with same route as followed by the IIT-JEE or followed by different route.
A suitable time gap between the mains and the advanced tests will be provided so that the results of mains test are available before the advanced exam. According to me, this step of IIT council increases the level of complexity for students; students have to appear for two exams after cracking the top 20 percent criteria of class XII. It looks that new IIT-JEE entrance exam procedure increase the pressure for those who are dreamt of getting Admission to IIT-JEE.
I hope that above information will help students to understand the eligibility criteria of IIT JEE Entrance exam.
Updated: IIT Kanpur eligibility criteria for IIT-JEE 2013 has been changed for 2012 batch pass outs students such that 2012 pass outs follows existing eligibility criteria but the new compromise formula is only for 2013 batch students. the students who have appeared in class XII in 2012 will not need to worried about class XII percentage in 2013 IIT Kanpur exam.

ARE U SATISFIED(Y/N).
