Qatar is a nice place to live in ( I 've lived here almost all my life...lol) . The crime rate is very less, the standard of living is very high , etc. But the problem of traffic accidents has troubled the residents of this place for a long time. In an attempt to eradicate this evil, the government has decided to implement strict laws enforcible from 2 October 2007. Here are some of the violations which may cause you to pay small fines in the range QR 100 - QR 1,000 ( IRs 1100 - IRs 11,000).
Driving with defective brakes
Driving with inappropriate licence
Driving with stripped or invalid licence
Violating norms of public morality
Driving an unregistered vehicle
Driving a vehicle without number plates
Unauthorised changes made to number plates
Providing wrong information to pass the technical inspection
Using the vehicle for the wrong purpose
Blocking the flow of traffic intentionally
Driving a vehicle without a proper silencer
Driving a polluting vehicle
Driving a vehicle that leaks any material that can damage the road
Driving a vehicle which drops loads which can endanger the public safety
Giving the licence to someone who has no licence
Driving a vehicle with unclear number plates
Here are some of the "major" violations
Jumping red signal (i.e. driving the car when the signal is red )
Driving in the opposite direction
Driving under the influence of alcohol
Exceeding the maximum speed
Driving recklessly and dangerously
