Adding to the already volumnous opposition against the proposed CET by the centre, IIT-Delhi has decided to follow in IIT-Kanpur's footsteps and conduct its own entrance test.
IIT-Bombay's senate shall be meeting soon and shall be considering the same issue.
However, the surprising thing is that no other senates are taking concrete steps against the proposed CET. While the director of IIT-Guwahati has openly come out in favour of the new system, IIT-Madras has remained practically mute. IIT-Kharagpur's faculty plans to go on a hunger strike to protest against Mr.Sibal's new system.
Mr. Sibal, on the other hand, remains adamant as ever in his decision to not change anything in the proposed system. In an interview to CNN-IBN, Mr. Sibal claimed that this new system would help destroy the bias towards the economically strong sections of society and reduce stress.
However, it is now becoming clear that the new system will only help the rich, as people will have to attend classes for both the 12th board exam and the ISEET. Also, the stress of a single day exam will be killer.
