Its finding out the area using parametric forms.Stick to area =...... integral ydx.Then use chain rule to convert ydx to y*dx/dt*dt or the other way around(x*dy/dt*dt).Then integrate.Basic stuff but useful nonetheless.So,if you need practise in these methods,try to find the area of each of the curves mentioned here:http://www.goiit.com/posts/list/community-shelf-analytical-geometry-part-6-plane-curves-915109.htm

never seenf finding area using parametric eqns in IIT Syllabus... although an article was published in MTG Mathematics today....
