Q.1
Why IIT-JEE is considered as a tough exam?

Ans.
IIT-JEE is considered as a toughest exam not because the questions in this exam are of difficult level. There are many reasons too.
Only one syllabus is available for IIT-JEE & the study material for the purpose is not available yet although IIT-JEE syllabus neither includes anything which is outside the board syllabus nor it includes questions which cannot be solved. In reality, after looking at the solution of the questions, students generally gets surprised that why he is facing difficulty in solving the questions. These are two reasons behind this :
Students does not give importance to the knowledge accumulated at the school level.
Majority of the students are unaware of the point from where to start IIT-JEE preparation. Even the students do not know; when to start the preparation, what to study & how to study. Many students are unable to make use of the available books of IIT-JEE.
In this condition, a student needs guidance & for this purpose they join correspondence course or classroom coaching.

Q.2
Is IIT-JEE; a favorable preposition for students having high I.Q. level only?

Ans.
The students having high I.Q. level can extract important points from teachers even in the completely filled class. These students can collect important information from the books & study material available in the market in minimum possible time with maximum efficiency, whereas other students get confused in the study material & information flood. So an average student becomes successful in IIT, if and only he starts his preparation with planning & systematic way. Definitely the preparation of IIT-JEE can be completed only after having highly systematic approach.

Q.3
What is the ideal time to start preparation for IIT-JEE?

Ans.
The right time to start the preparation of IIT is at the beginning of 11th class. Students are fresh & mentally more prepared to grasp the concepts after board exam. Those students who start their preparation at eleventh hour might miss some of their topics of XIth class. Apart from this, if preparation starts in the beginning of XIIth class; then the students get entangled in double pressure of board & IIT-JEE. As a result, the chances of securing good rank in IIT-JEE gets feeble.
Many students start their preparation after XIIth. Such students should take admission in a coaching institute for regular & systematic study. If they are unable to get coaching, then they should go for 'GROUP STUDY' by taking help from their respective subject teachers of their city.
Those teachers can be considered as a 'GOOD' one who not only explains the solution of the problem but also the analysis of the question & the solution & who is also eligible to explain; how the related concepts can be used to frame the different possible questions.

Q.4
What is evaluated in IIT-JEE?

Ans.
IIT-JEE basically evaluates the subject related basic concept, logical aspects, ability to apply fundamental to multi-conceptual problems of the student. It also evaluates the efficiency of the student to work in pressure & to some extent, the students psychology. It also evaluates, the student's ability to think in a multi-directional way.
Apart from all these features, IIT-JEE screening exam also evaluates the accuracy, speed & question paper management of the student. Generally the answers of the questions available in the books are adequately different so to solve them is quite easy. But the difference in options of the questions in IIT-JEE paper is very less and it is confusing too.
To search for the right answer in the options is possible only if the student should have not only knowledge but should have the skill too, to apply this accumulated knowledge.

Q.5
How the paper of IIT-JEE is framed?

Ans.
According to the available knowledge the process of preparing IIT paper is quite complex. First of all, questions are collected from different professors. After that the possible solution of these questions are also prepared side by side.
In the last 40 years, hardly there is any question which is given in IIT paper twice. It is said that IIT-JEE committee selects different professors for preparing IIT paper and they frame the original questions. In this way, many sets of papers are prepared.
So, the IIT paper is finalized only few hours before printing. Even the involved professors are totally unaware about the final paper.

Q.6
What are the points to be stressed in the planning of IIT-JEE preparation?

Ans.
The first step of the preparation of IIT-JEE is to the select the course program. If you start your preparation after 10th then 2 year programme is appropriate, if after 11th class then 1 year programme & immediately after 12th then crash program is appropriate for the student.
The following special features should be confirmed in the course programme which we are selecting.
Course program should cover full syllabus of IIT-JEE.
All important points? related concepts & their application should be properly given in each chapter & unit & after that sufficient no. of easy, tough & past JEE questions should be given for exercise in each chapter.
The same important points should be stressed in the classroom lecture apart from study material. There should be at least four mid term tests in a full year.
At least 15 exercise tests should be conducted prior to IIT-JEE exam.
It would be better if the course programme is designed by the lecturer who is preparing the students for IIT.
It is a famous saying that, 'WELL BEGUN IS HALF DONE'. Thorough analysis & study of previous years paper of IIT-JEE gives definite direction to the preparation it confirms the success of the student. An easy method is :-
All chapter of each subject should be arranged in a systematic way.
Systematically arrange the FAQ of a particular chapter according to the marks.
Many problems are asked after adding the concepts of one or more chapters. These chapters should also be arranged systematically. The questions based on same concept should be grouped differently.
The no. of theoretical & numerical questions should also be sorted out.
In how many questions, the concepts of the same chapter are interlinked.
The solution of how many questions is more than one page.
In how many questions it is necessary to write equations.
The question should be grouped according to their level easy, difficult, very difficult. Make a list of the chapter that includes your selected questions in order to clear the cut off.
It is clear that the preparation after such analysis gives great results in minimum time & energy.
The lecturers & professors of coaching classes regularly analyze the question papers & their sources on different basis. Because of this reason, they stress more on the important points at the time of preparation of the student. The result is always remarkable. Some of the analysis are given in our booklet which would serve as an example.

Q.7
What points should be taken care of in the daily study of IIT-JEE?

Ans.
The student should not leave the question until he arrives at the solution or the way of reaching the solution, irrespective of the hours utilized in the work. When you are on the very of learning something than it is more important to know that you are understanding the concept or not & not the time utilized.
The student should understand the base of the question. For that, go through the question twice or thrice. Generally, the concepts of the questions are inter-related so the frame work to solve the questions should be prepared in mind. If we succeed in opening the question then it becomes easy to solve it. Never solve the question under the presumption that similar question is solved by you earlier also.
Never leave the question on the presumption that you know how to solve it. Remember, that to solve such questions increases your speed.
Write all the steps while solving the problem because in IIT-JEE there is step marking too. Concepts get cleared in step writing.
You can think of other solutions also; of the same problem. This increases you grasping power on the chapter. Apart from this, if you are unable to solve the question in one way in IIT paper then by solving it in another way will boost your confidence. It is not a good habit to see the solution of the problem without effort or after min. effort. It is even better to solve the questions with the help of friends & lecturers if you are unable to solve it individually.
It is better to evaluate the answers of objective questions after solving at least 10 questions. Remember that to make a solution after looking at the answer can be proved as a fatal exercise because in exam we have to do the questions in a single attempt. That means, a student should be habitual to do the question correctly in the very first attempt.
After doing objective questions, the mistakes committed in the mid should be tabulated :
For instance :
Errors in calculation.
Unable to remind the related formula.
Unable to read the related theory.
To commit mistakes in unit.
To commit mistake in the selection of choice.
To fill the bubble wrongly.
To understand the question wrongly.
To commit mistake in the order of filling the bubble.
Some students commit more mistakes in some particular points which could be easily identified after the analysis of questions for one or two months. After that, this weakness can be reduced through alertness.
Reading books & notes for hrs & hrs; cannot be called as IIT-JEE preparation. The time which you dedicate on your study should be qualitatively counted & not quantitatively.
Scientists have proved the fact that the most influential study is in parts of ½hour to 1 hour. To take a break of 10 minute in 40-50 min. in a regular study of 4-5 hours from time to time is beneficial because in this time, mind rearranges the information obtained & the bodily arrangement gets recharged.
At least two hours of continuous study is must for each subject at a time. Don't switch from one subject to another in a short span. If some problems are difficult to solve then try to concentrate yourself by solving some easy questions.
Limit yourself to some good books only. Collection of books & study material in huge quantity will create confusion & you might not get good output.
Some qualitative problems should be solved after reading theory so as to confirm that you have understood the concepts well. If the concepts are still weak, then go through the theory once again.
When you get confident in a chapter then make new questions by adding or deleting formats of some good questions. This is the most influential exercise in the preparation of IIT-JEE.
In simple words, it is equivalent to asking new question after rearranging the questions.

Q.8
How should we prepare the notes of IIT-JEE?

Ans.
The following points are helpful in making notes :
Some important points, formula & diagram should be highlighted in notes. Many students copy the whole book in the form of notes which is definitely a loss of time & energy.
Leave 3-4 inch of space in wide note book while making notes so the information obtained from other books or sources can be copied here. Many time we get some information while solving questions, this should also be copied in the same space. Difficult questions as well some important points should also be included in notes.
Different ink of pens should be used in making notes so as to highlight different work.
In this way, the work done in the whole year will be summarized in these notes which are very important at the time of revision. Remember that just before exam, you have to revise from these notes only which makes your revision influential & confident one. If you forget some point in exam hall then these points can be easily reminded by recalling these notes.

Q.9
How to evaluate your preparation critically?

Ans.
On one side, you have periodic test where you restrict your preparation to points. Simply giving test is not sufficient but the main aim of test is to identify your strengths & weaknesses & to evaluate your preparation in comparison with others. Not to use test feedback in improving your performance & to give the test of same type repeatedly does not have any importance. In contrast, if you identify your weakness & improve your performance in next test then it would become a gateway to your success. Remember the students, who are selected in IIT, they share the same general quality of not repeating mistakes. If you are preparing at home only, then practice test given at the end of books will be useful.
Generally, test series conducted by coaching institutes is a good way to evaluate your performance and this analysis can be possible only if the student is preparing after XII or he has completed the syllabus once.

Q.10
What points should be taken care of while taking practice test so you become habitual of them?

Ans.
The following points should be taken care of while taking IIT-JEE screening exam.
The most important point while doing objective type questions is to solve maximum questions in minimum time.
The time utilized in solving the question can be minimized by solving it in a mental way or in paper.
There is a combined paper of all three subjects in screening exam. So, a student should solve the paper in an intelligent way. Chemistry questions can be solved comparatively faster & the saved time can be used in maths and physics paper.
A student cannot be selected on the basis of marks secured in a single subject but on the basis of marks obtained in all the three subjects.
Don't try to solve all the questions of screening exam because some questions are very confusing & difficult & in this way you can avoid negative marking.
Many incidents are there in which those students are selected in screening who have not attempted the paper well. On the other hand, the students who had attempted the paper well are not selected. The basic reason for this is to fill the bubbles of the answers of answer sheet in a wrong manner. Students generally fill the bubble in last 5 min. That is the reason, there score is less inspite of doing the paper well. It is important to state here that a student should fill the bubble immediately after solving the question. The questions which are not attempted, leave that bubble row while filling the bubble of next question.
It is important to read the instructions while taking any exam because the exam pattern of IIT is not disclosed with its form & every year slight modifications in its pattern can be possible. For instance negative marking is there or not, screening exam is in December or March, question paper is of 100 marks or 60 marks etc.
The following points should be taken care of while taking IIT-JEE Mains exam.
Before solving theoretical questions, give grading to these questions according to their level so that you should be able to solve easy questions in time. Difficult questions should be solved in the last so that the mental pressure resulted because of not solving that question will not effect the solution of easy questions.
Sufficient quantity of language should also be used in the solution of theoretical questions.
Never show an inclination towards one specific question while solving questions because your aim should be to solve maximum questions & not all of them.
Always put the values in the last stage of solving the derivation this will minimize the mathematical errors.
It is helpful to draw the related diagrams of subjective questions to understand the difficult question well. In this way the student can become aware of the possible mistakes committed by him in the beginning only.
If you are unable to write all the steps in solving the difficult question then don't cut the steps written in the starting. But attempt to solve the next question through fresh page.
So, it is clear that taking practice test after taking care of the above mentioned points will confirm your success in IIT.
