Motivation and Concentration

         ?Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it?s the courage to continue that counts.?

           Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try. For this,  just be
                        honest to yourself. In the long run, who are you is more valuable
                        than what you do.

Unfortunately this is not stressed in our education system by our teachers. Get it right- Your worth as a person is not based on your intelligence, your grades, how hard you work. These are contributory factors to have a sense of worth, it?s enough to be what you actually are.

            There?re a few concrete ideas which can motivate in case you need it. First of all, begin with yourself. Respect and value the opinions of others ? but realize that ultimately you must respect and satisfy yourself.

# Practice impulse control by imagining the consequences of your actions How will you feel afterwards? Then, act so that you?ll be satisfied ?th yourself.

# Write out a plan 4 urself. Jot down personal and academic goals and priorities, and reread them when u r in low mood.

# Don?t worry about or dwell on things that go wrong. Concentrate on ur successes. Remember little successes build up just as quickly as little failures!!

# Give urself time 2 change. Forgive urself for backsliding and making mistakes.

# Don?t be a perfectionist. Make approaching your goals on the basis of your self-respect rather than reaching you goals.

# One trick that I find very effective- If you?re feeling down and hopeless, imagine the worst that could happen ? exaggerate your fantasies ? and then laugh at them. Do this to put yourself and ur current situation in perspective.

# When you?re down, go 2 someone you  know cares 4 u and ask him or her 2 give you a pep ?talk,? reminding you of your good qualities and talents and abilities and make a list of your good qualities and read ?em when you need to!!!

# Be willin? to risk failure 4 something you really care about. Be willing 2 risk success, too!!!!!!

# If u r irrationally afraid of sumthin?. Do it a lot; the fear?ll wear off.

# Learn something 2 recognize, sooner, events which are not turning out as they should ? and act to redirect them 2 ur satisfaction.

Take responsibility:

          No one else is forcin? you to do ur work. You?ve decided 2 take it on!!!!! Don?t waste your energy in hostility towards others. Accept and live with ur own decisions. Start early. The sooner u start, the sooner you?ll be free 2 do other activities, the less worry you?ll experience, the more time u?ll have 2 recover from mistakes and wrong directions.

       Except a certain amount of tension. Use that tension as the energy to get urself movin?. Different people have different styles of working. For example, some people need competition to do their best, while others work better at their own pace. Respect ur work style and arrange the conditions you need 2 do well!!!

If tough???:

          Solving tough numerical puzzles gives us a hint ? that if we have a long, hard task, as we should make it as comfortable as possible. Do it in short bits,but stay with it. From that hint learn 2 be in very comfortable position- work it wearing comfortable clothes, among friends, in familiar surroundings with whatever u need 2 keep ur spirits up while u work at it.

Feel good 4 ur work:

          When u?ve done something you feel good about, reward yourself with a treat; u deserve it!!! Completed tasks keep interest and motivation at a higher level. Try 2 complete a task, accomplish a sub -goal, before u quit 4 the day.

Concentration is important:

        Think of the concentration improvement as a 3 step process:

# Learn the causes of poor concentration and decide which apply to you;

# Understand what u can do to control these factors; and

# Make ur control habitual.

Environmental distractions:

           If your environment is a factor then u can do either of the 2 things only ? leave or re-arrange a distracting environment. If you plan 2 leave then don?t go 2 an entertaining environment instead go 2 serious places ? go 2 a library or a class room when u seriously intend 2 study.

               Study when u r most alert. Eat a high-protein snack. Do five minutes of light exercise to wake up. Find a reason which satisfies you 4 taking the class; talk with other studenz and the professor. Make sure you know how 2 study effectively. Put the course in perspective. Break up large tasks into achievable sub-tasks. Do the most intimidating task first. Give yourself rewards for progress (not progress reports hehehe) and punishments for avoidance.

Daydreaming:

                    Daydreaming is a powerful intoxication- and it has its own plus and minus points. But the key point is ? separate daydreams from studying. When your mind starts 2 wander, write down the interrupting thought and continue studying. Or recall important points and then turn away from your book and continue 2 daydream!!!
When u r ready 2 read again, do so.

The trick is not 2 daydream and read at the same time!!!!!!!

  If I deserve anything, don?t 4get 2 provide me with them!!!!!!
{ I?ve spent 55 mins}
