Light A Used Match
Effect :
You take out a box of matches and go to light your cigarette or candle but when you
open them they are all used.
You then say I hate that when people put used matches back in the box, oh sorry it
was me I hate it when I do that. You then proceed to take out the used match and
strike it and it lights. You can have them already stashed in the dirty ashtray and
take one out and then light your cigarette or candle.
Secret:
All you have to do to make it look like it is a used match is dip the match in black
ink, and then wait for it to dry. Then dip it in ash and it will look like a used match
but when you strike it the match will light like any normal match.

Floating Ring Trick
Make some really thick salt water. REALLY thick. soak a piece of thread in it
somewhere between 45 and 60 minutes. take it out and let it dry. Now you are
ready. Ask someone for a ring. Tie it to the end of the thread. Hold the string so its
like a pendulum. Now take a match and light the string down by the ring. The string
will burn but the salt crystals can hold up a fairly light ring. An awesome effect.

Devil's Ash
From - David Blaine on Street Magic
EFFECT:
Ash from a cigarette rubbed into your palm mysteriously travels to the spectator's.
This trick is an excellent quickie in a bar or restaurant where people are smoking.
Done by David Blaine on Street Magic
Part One:
Before you begin, get a little ash on your right middle finger. This is easily done in
the act of picking up and ash tray and moving it to your table or under some other
ploy. Next, ask someone to hold out their hand palm down. Demonstrate what you
mean. When the person does this, grasp their hands (your thumbs on top and
fingers below) momentarily while you say, "no just a little farther out, please." In
the process of doing this, your right middle finger places the ash mark on the
spectator's left palm, which they can't see because their hand is palm down. Be sure
to release their hands quickly. If this is done causel, off hand manner - the spectator
will never remember you touched their hand.
Part Two:
What comes next is the most important part of the trick. It's where you build this
simple little stunt into a miracle class. Tell the person to close their left fist and keep
it closed tight. Next take a cigarette and tap a little ash onto your own left palms.
Say "watch." Slowly, rub the ash into your palm. Ask them if they can see it. Keep
rubbing until it's gone. "The ash is no longer here, but it's not gone. Would you open
your hand please?" The person does and there on the center of their palm is the ash
mark!

Ice Ice Baby !!!
Effect
Pour some water into a cup, blow on the cup and then turn it upside down where
out pops some ice cubes.
You need a cup or glass that you can't see through. You also need a small sponge
and and some ice cubes.
Method:
Prepare the cup by placing the sponge into the bottom of the cup. Then, drop a few
ice cubes on top of the sponge and you're ready to go.
To perform pour a small amount of water (about an inch) into the cup. The sponge
will absorb the water. Blow into the cup, wave your hands over it and dump out the
ice cubes.
If you are using a disposible plastic cup for the trick, just throw it away at this time.
Watch the look of surprise on your friends faces.

SUM TRICK, A MAGIC
Friends during a recent visit to a magic show, a person was asked to think of a
3-digit number, whose 100th digit was bigger than the rest numbers, for ex. 971 or
956 i.e. 9 > 5,6. And all the numbers should be distinct. Then the algorithm of the
magic went like this :
1- Take the number and from this number subtract the number obtained by
reversing the digits,
2- Now having this number add this to the number obtained by reversing its digits
(the new one, the above one in 2-part),
3- The number obtained will always be 1089!!! and i was shocked how could it be?
Funny isn't it but my question is that can anyone prove this with a mathematical
base. I tried it with a good success, its a challenge to all.
This example will clear any doubt in the algorithm:
Let a number be 871, the reverse number is 178. And now, 871-178=693.
Now reverse of 693 is 396. So 693+396=1089
It is believed that this trick was derived from a Russian Olympiad where students
were asked to prove this but only a handful of them could prove it.

HERES IT: But stick with it, it is not difficult. Represent the number with ABC Reverse this to get CBA Remember that A is Hundreds B is tens and C is units Take CBA from ABC like this Hundreds Tens Units -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A B C
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C B A Now here is the trick: subtract 1 Hundred, and add 9 Tens and 10 Ones (-100, +90, +10 = 0, so won't change answer):
Hundreds Tens Units -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A-1A B+9B 10+CC
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C B A -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A-1-C 9 10+C-A Last Step: Reverse the answer and add the two numbers together.
A-1-C 9 10+C-A + 10+C-A 9 A-1-C -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9 18 9 (simplify:) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10 8 9 As predicted the answer was 1089
