Greetings to all fellow members,guests and experts..
Its my experience that while we are engrossed in something,we are usually oblivious to the pain and suffering around us...
This poem is my attempt to remind us all of the debt we owe our country..
Ah,so often when I saunter down the land of dreams,
I see around me the India of my dreams,
Like the ancient golden bird that still majestically gleams....
Where poverty is an unheard-of word..
Richie-Riches aren't the only ones to be heard;
Where health awaeness is effectively widespread;
Little children don't have to work for their bread;
WHERE TECHNICAL KNOW-HOW is not RESTRICTED TO ACHEIVING MILITARY GOALS-
But just as much,to PREVENT fellow humans from wading into chocked manholes;
Where state-of-art shopping malls don't provide a front,
Hiding old-age homes and squalid orphanages for runts;
Where elders are still listened to,and revered;
Old folk arent considered 'LIABILITIES',their upkeep to be feared;
Where the youth concentrate on giving the country their very best-
Not merely chasing foreign brands an' aping the west..
Where employment and remuneration are based on honest ability,
Not dictated by your CONTACTS,WEALTH or deity..
Where there are no religious 'isms';no affluence or poverty;
Just as the Constitution promised :ALL ROUND EQUALITY..
Where old age values,customs and culture,
Are not compromised for convenience or put on sale;
ALAS!!! I AWOKE..REALITY SCREAMED!!!!!
I wondered,can India's glory be restored,just as I'd dreamed..
Or will the dichotomy persist,widening the chasm
Between progress and degeneration..tearing apart the macrocosm..
Now I know,I'll be more discerning as to whom and what I follow,
Led by the worthy and flanked by the young,I'll spread the message around..
To ensure that peace and harmony once again abound.
My original title for this poem was 'India of my dreams'...seemed apt when I wrote it..hopefully it'll have an effect on you too..
Just remember,wherever you go,however high you reach,there is lways more you can do for your nation..
Jai Hind !!
