new iit's for 2008-09 session??

Earlier, announcement had been made to establish an IIT in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh and an IIM at Shillong. Though some of these institutions had been expected to be operational earlier, the IITs, barring the one in Himachal and the IIM in Shillong will begin admitting students from the 2008-09 academic year.
It is not clear how these institutions will actually deliver on this announcement, given that the Rajasthan government is yet to finalise a site for the IIT, and that physical infrastructure required to function from July 2008 is nowhere near complete.

It would appear that IIT (Delhi) would assist IIT (Rajasthan) in its efforts, while IIT (Bihar) would be assisted by IIT (Kanpur) and IIT (Andhra Pradesh) by IIT (Chennai).

Hey in today's newspaper(29th march) it was there that the is going to be an iit for every state. I don't know how much time it wud take for this but it was there in Hindustan Times of today's date.

O.K. THANKS FOR U R INFORMATION I HAV A DOUBT THT ON DOING LIKE THT I.E FOR EVERY STATE AN IIT THE WORLD RANK WILL DECRESE IT IS DECREASING ITS PLACE FROM FEW YEARS PLZZ ANSWER IF POSSIBLE.

in the nespaper it is written that iits are going to be set up in each state but not in this 5 yr plan as gov has issued only 200 crore rs and 1 iit requires 800 crore.so a cabinet official has said plan of 7 iits will carry forward in next 5 yr plan...and even if 1 iit set up then also i think it will be set up in frame of 2-3 yrs..so no benifit for us......
