some points on Nuclear Chemistry

as we all know..

but average life = 1.44 * t_1/2

7)For any nuclear rxn , sum of atomic no. and mass no. on both the sides are equal...

8)Mass defect = M' - M

M = actual isotopic mass , M' = Z(m_p + m_e) + (A-Z)m_n

9)Binding energy/nucleon = Binding energy calculated frm mass defect/mass no.

10)PACKING FRACTION = [(isotopic mass - mass no.)/mass no.]*10⁴

11)To calculate geological dating (IIT qs 1ce)

first calculate

by using ,

= 0.693/t_1/2

2)then calculate uranium converted into lead

3)calculate total amt of uranium initially present

4)apply t = (2.303/lamda).N_o/N

12)For calculation of carbon dating (AGAIN IIT qs)

i)calculate lamda frm t_1/2

ii) m% activity of C-14 now present means N/N_o = m/100

iii)apply t = (2.303/lamda) log N_o/N
