Hi all this is my self written article which comprises of the lessons and important words told to me my by well wishers parents teachers and all. And I want to share it with u all which i think will prove very much beneficial to you. Hope these words will change your life(from a GoIITian to an IITian)
What is success?
I think I can?t get a better question to start of things with. A lot of people have described it in their own way but in my view which I think everyone will support is that success is that state of mind in which your feeling can?t be expressed in words but can only be felt and can make others feel jealous of you, you may be thinking jealous?? Yes my dear jealous it is one of the important part of human nature. Anyways we are not here to discuss about success but to achieve it.
Formula of success
Numerous books have been written on the above topic but I didn?t find them effective, as I feel the same thing is written in different way. I also tried to give a thought to this question but in the end I believed that no formula for success exists!!! So from now forget about those books which claim to give you the formula of success. In my opinion every individual has his own outlook towards different things so a technique to solve a problem by one person may not be the same as used by someone else, in the same way the formula for success which I follow may not suit you or if suits you it may not suit your friend. So I am not giving any formula but will be discussing some things which were told to me by my teachers, parents and well-wishers and which I think may be useful to you.
How to get what you want
1. Know what you want
The first and the foremost thing in achieving some thing you want is to know about it in detail. Like a country does this against its rival during war time. Strengths, weaknesses are something everyone that one should know.
2. Love your Goal
Love the most intense of all the feelings and it must be in you towards your goal. You should love it truly, sometimes even more than your sweetheart!!! Because what we love, we pray for it with a true heart to get it and anything which is seeked from god with a true heart you will get it. Don?t believe it just give it a try.
3. Be focused
Remember the slogan of the 2003 cricket world cup? I am sure many of you won?t remember it. Ok I?ll tell u it was ?Eat cricket, sleep cricket, dream cricket?. So for you to get something you must be focused on it. That means it should be always in your mind what you want. Even for a second you should not allow it to get off your mind.
4. Have faith in yourself
Faith is the biggest weapon a person has. As someone rightly said one who loses faith loses everything. Never loose faith in you. Always remember you are blessed and the efforts you are putting will never go in vain.
5. Believe in God
Can any one tell me how can a 11month old survive a fall from a 3-storey building? For this you must believe that there is something around us that protects us helps us but we can?t see it. That?s nothing but god so believe in it. But don?t forget ?God helps those who help themselves?.
6. Never hurt anybody
You must be wondering what kind of a statement is this but my dear always remember if you hurt someone it will comeback to you and will harm you as mental stress is much more dangerous than physical stress.
At this juncture I would like to site an instance I saw someone from my friends giving some money to a beggar after some days we had our unit tests, my friend complained of headache and fever but still gave the test and passed with good marks. How? Don?t you think the beggar?s blessings played a part in the marks?? You may be thinking that I have gone mad. But later I came to know that the preparation was much less as compared to the marks obtained.
I think it was rather a subjective part of the matter but the objective part follows now. Hope you will follow the above points and the one which are to follow.
IIT-JEE (every aspirants dream)
Considered as one of the toughest exams held all over the world is help on the 2nd Sunday of the month of April. Its objective is to select candidates who have correct knowledge and can apply it when necessary. In this about 3-4 lakh students appear but only 5000 are selected. Don?t be afraid by looking at huge number of students appearing. Actually the main competition is about 50-60 thousand and the rest just give it as fun. Without any dedication (which is the most important instrument in succeeding).
So be happy to know the reduction in the number of competitors you have.
Success mantras for clearing an engineering entrance exam
Usually books titled like this are very-very useful but only few of them follow it and succeed main reason being they are beyond an ordinary persons will. After talking to many toppers, experts and teachers I have realised that cracking any engineering exam is nothing but LUCK (Labour Under Correct Knowledge). I followed a five point mantra which helped me a lot but unfortunately I was not able to clear JEE as I realized it 4 months before JEE. But I have no doubt that if one follows it for a period of nearly about 8 months he can easily crack the toughest exam in the world.
1. How to study
This is perhaps the first step towards cracking JEE and usually only a few people are correct in it. Their way of study is unplanned. Their study is like a bus whose driver doesn?t know where to go. Tell me if u want go for a movie do u go without planning? The answer is no. Then why to study without planning? Do you think it will be useful. About planning I can only say make a plan easy to follow and doesnot put you under pressure. Remember to keep times for everything that is necessary don?t ever try to be a book-worm.
Points to remember while making a plan:
Ø Early wake up in the morning (6 or 7)
Ø Each study session of not more than 60 mins
Ø 10 minute break after it
Ø After three such sessions take a 1hour break (in this don?t even think about what you have studied)
Ø After dinner keep an hour for revision of the day.
Ø On Sunday study for just 3 hours in which to revise the whole week.
Ø On month ends revise the all which you have studied in the whole month.
Ø Regularly take mock tests with a comprehensive analysis (not to identify your errors in the question but in your thought process) of it.
Ø In 1hr of study first 5 mins is for revising what u studied yesterday next 35 mins for study of the text, be thorough wid the concepts in the next 10 mins solve problems, after that revise for 5 mins and its time for your break. I have left 5 mins because everytime u cant look at the watch. So just adjust it yourself.
Ø Keep an hour separately for problem solving. Apart from the study sessions.
Ø Don?t study Physics after Maths or vice-versa.
2. Concentration(The useless word)
I know all you must be amazed by the sentence in the bracket. Isn?t it so. But in the next 5 minutes I?ll prove it to you that your concentration is as good as it gets. Remember the time when you were watching the slog overs of an ODI. It must have happened to you that you didn?t hear you mom/dad?s call. What will you say to this instance? This is what you call concentration. The condition when you are totally unaware of the surroundings. But the problem is this that when it comes to studies this concentration is lost. You even a faintest sound irritates you. The reason being you are not taking interest in your studies. Just start taking interest and just see the difference.
3. Where to Study?
It should be a calm, quiet and scheduled (everyday u should sit there only) place. You should have a wall on your back. A study table is very much advisable. Don?t lose heart if you don?t have it. Jus choose a calm and quiet place. There should be a lot of positive messages around your study area, along with a photograph of any god (preferably goddess Saraswati). It should have sufficient amount of air flow. Music sources should not be in the room.
4. When to Study?
You can study at any time you feel like.
5. Different Phases of Study
(i) Learning phase (6-8 months): In this phase one must concentrate in learning new concepts rather then focus on problem solving. Remember after this you should not learn any thing new. Make your basic as strong as you can. Don?t loose heart if you can?t solve your problems.
(ii) Consolidation Phase (2-2.5 months): In this phase your main aim should be to consolidate all those things that you know. Which most aspirants can?t master. But its very important to consolidate so that you know what you know and what you don?t.
(iii) Rapid Review Phase (1 week-2 week): Just when the exams are at the corner you should all revise your full course in just a couple of week time. You have to study more than 10 hours per day during this period. And always remember slow but steady wins the race. So be slow but perfect in your approach.
The most important day of your life:
You guessed it right I am talking about the examination day. It is the most important time of your life because this is where you have to show the world that what you worth are. Many students feel tensed and in turn can?t reproduce what they know.
So I would suggest something:
1. Don?t study in the morning of the exam
2. Sleep by 11 the preceding night
3. Have a nutritious but light breakfast
4. Don?t try anything new
5. Wear the most comfortable clothes you have.
6. Don?t talk to anyone on the day of exam and the day before
7. Ask some of your family members to accompany you to the examination centre.
8. Don?t listen to anyone?s advice in these two days. Just do what your heart tells you to do.
I think it?s enough to keep in mind for the pre-paper problems. Now the main time comes. The paper
1. Drink a lot of water just before the exam.
2. Keep a sweet memory of photographs/moments which you can recollect when you feel very tensed.
3. Don?t try to see here and there.
4. As soon as you get the question papers read the instructions and then do some calculation simple ones which would kick start your mind.
5. Whenever you feel tensed during a paper just close your eyes just try to visualize the word RELAX. Take a couple of breaths and start again.
6. If a question is not getting solved leave it at that very moment.
7. Select the questions you are confident about and do them first.
8. If you think you are not sure of the answer of a crammed question please solve it or leave according to the situation.
Different approaches in solving a question paper
1. Linear approach to attempt a paper
This is the most simple and straight forward approach to attempt a paper. In this approach you attempt a paper as it comes which means you start from question 1 and end at the last question in a fixed sequence. A slightly modified and better form of this approach is that you spend initial time 5 minutes to decide the sequence in which you would like to answer the question paper. For example, if after browsing you find Physics is easiest followed by chemistry and maths so you attempt the physics part first then chemistry and at last it should be maths. But this approach has many demerits i.e. you might not be able to touch the maths part as the questions in physics/chemistry were very lengthy. So be careful if you approach the paper in this way it might land you in no man?s land.
2. Jayasuriya approach to attempt a paper
In early days ODI cricket was not as fast as it is now. Thanks to the Sri Lankan veteran batsman who introduced scoring quickly runs in the initial phases of the match. You must have guessed about it this approach. But I would like to tell about it in detail. Choose questions which are very easy and solve them as fast as you can this should be for initial half an hour. After that you should calm down a bit and then again adopt this approach in the last half hour. Demerits of this approach is that you may loose accuracy at the cost of speed but if you practice this from the beginning it should be ok with you.
Cheers
