Reagents

Chemistry , Organic Chemistry

Here are some reagents and i think will be useful.

1)Baeyer's reagent

dilute alkaline KMnO₄

2)Schweitzer's reagent

[Cu (NH₃)₄] SO₄

3)Tollen's reagent

ammonical sol. of AgNO₃ [ Ag(NH₃)₂]OH

4)Nesseler's reagent

Alk. sol. of K₂HgI₄

5)Fehling's sol.

CuSO₄ solution

6)Benedict's solution

CuSO₄ sol. + sodium citerate + Na₂CO₃

7)Luca's reagent

HCl +anhyd. ZnCl₂

8)Fenton's reagent

FeSO₄ + H₂O₂

9)Etard's reagent

CrO₂Cl₂

10)Barfoed's reagent

Cu (CH₃COO)₂ + CH₃COOH

11)Milon's reagent

sol. of mercuric and mercurous nitrate

12)Schiff's Reagent

R - C - R'

NR"

some imp. catalysts involving transition metals

1) Zeigler natta catalyst = TiCl₄ +(C₂H₅)Al

2)Lindlar's catalyst = Pd / BaSO₄

3)Wilkinson's catalyst = [Ph₃P]RhCl

4) Adam's catalyst = pt / PtO

5)Brown's catalyst = nickel boride

Green vitriol = FeSO₄. 7H₂O

blue vitriol = CuSO₄ . 5H₂O

White vitriol = ZnSO₄ . 7H₂O

philosopher's wool = ZnO

Vermillion = HgS

Calmol = Hg₂Cl₂

Lunar caustic = AgNO₃

Pyrolusite = MnO₂

Corrosive sublimate = Hg₂Cl₂

Fulminating god = (NH₂ - Au = NH) used as explosive

Rouge = Fe₂O₃

sceele's green = Cu₃ (AsO₃)₂

LITHOPONE = BaSO₄ + ZnS
