This is my essay from the supplement form of the common application for Stanford University.
Tell us what makes Stanford a good place for you.
As a young boy, I often used to dream about attending one of the world's finest universities some day when I grew up. And now as I'm writing this essay, it is still quite hard for me to believe how close I possibly am to converting my dream into a wonderful reality. Stanford is undoubtedly one among the very best universities in the world. And it is the most desirable university for pursuing a future in computer science, a field I'm keenly interested in as a possible career. A graduate from Stanford is admired and awed at by his peers, and not without reason. Through the years, Stanford has shaped and presented many eminent personalities to the world - Lawrence Page and Sergey Brin, Steve Ballmer, Tiger Woods, Steven Chu, Ray Dolby, Jennifer Connelly, and William Hewlett and David Packard to name a few. An education at Stanford would be a profoundly enriching experience - interacting with really dedicated teachers and bright students, learning to live independently, adjusting with new people and making friends, and of course, following the well-known Stanford traditions. Living at Stanford, not only would I receive world-class training academically but also get various opportunities to hone my talents and develop holistically as a person. The pleasant California weather, the sprawling university campus, the grand architecture and lush green lawns, the vibrant atmosphere are added attractions, and the pure feelings of joy and exhilaration on getting admission into a university like Stanford is something which can never be expressed in words. All in all, Stanford has always been the university I've wanted to complete my higher education from.
