METALLIC PARALLEL AND LARGE PLATE COMBINATION
*For an isolated body total charge is always conserved*Net electrostatic field inside a conductor in absence of external force field (like gravitational, magnetic field ) is zero. The above concept can be used to find charge distribution on || plates. *Facing plates of the combination will carry equal and opposite charges always (to cancel electric field inside conductor)*If a particular plate/plates is/are grounded charge on it/them will NOT be conserved*The potential of conductor which is grounded becomes zero.Hence -[ ]
[ ] charge on earthed plates=[ ]
[ ] charge on unearthed plates(it can be a time saving approach for objective questions)*The charges on the outer surfaces of outermost plates of combination will be EQUAL and of SAME NATURE (again its to make E net=0 inside conductor)*When two conductors are connected their potential becomes equal. Charge distributes itself such that potential difference between the connected bodies becomes zero.

SPHERICAL SHELL ARRANGEMENT*For a conducting shell/hollow sphere/solid sphere electric field =0 for all inside ptsPotentialVsurface=Vcentre=Vany inside pt=1/4pie epsilon not* Q/R =constantwhere Q is total charge given to the sphere of radius R*For spherical shell combination for innermost conductor charge will reside on its outer surface*When a charged metallic body(spherical) is completely enclosed by another metallic body(spherical) , the outer surface of inner sphere and inner surface of outer sphere carries equal and opposite charges(a source-from where the field lines originate should have an equal sink-where lines terminate- in case of electrostatic field lines)*Charge conservation can be applied to isolated bodies*Charge on grounded bodies will NOT be conserved but potential will be zeroV=0 would assist in determination of charge distribution* Whether a conducting shell is grounded from inside or outside it would mean the same becoz surfaces are equipotential (its a common misconception that grounding must be done from inside)*If a charged conductor is connected to another charge distributes itself in ratio of capacities or ratio of radiiQ1/Q2=C1/C2=R1/R2*For an isolated conducting body of arbitrary shape charge distributes itself in the inverse ratio of radii of curvature or direct ratio of curvature*When a metallic sphere is kept inside another(both charged) the potential difference between the two spheres ONLY depends on charge given to outer sphere.*So if two concentric spheres are connected all charge will flow from inner to outer sphere no matter what is the nature and magnitude of charge on either sphere.
