i have not done well in jee2008.so i have decided to drop an year.i want to know weather self preperation(using some standard and recommended books) is best or joining some institution is best.

i feel that by self preperation i can get more time to study.(if i get any doubts i will ask my friends).

please i am waiting for a good reply about a comparision between self study or joining some institute.

i have the same question and for me i aint even a dropper

i am going to appear for IITJEE 09,i am still confused whether to opt for selfstudy or go for coaching at mathiit?!!

ur case is different;i feel u must go for coaching at some reputed institution ;as ur a dropper u can still manage enough time for studies for sure;and most of all its ur last chance -------->SO GIVE IT ALL U HAVE GOT;MAY GOD BLESS U

actually i am myself a dropper (means i gave JEE second time in 2008) and i thing dat i hav make to it
So i thought of answering u
Buddy first of all i am not scaring u but yaar dropping year is a very difficult 1
actually wen i dropped last year i was also very much enthusiastic .I did a very gud study in first 3 months but after it i was suffered from so much boredom & tension dat wat will happen if i didn't make this time also etc ,etc dat i got totally lost but my teacher & prasoon bhaiya (also bipin bro on this side) helped to get me right back on track(this problem occurs with almost every1 who dropped ) but a person who is unable to overcome got badly defeated by it
So if u r so much strong from inside that u r ready to give fulll complete year TO PCM coz studying all the same topics again coz a lot of boredom.
Now secondly yaar why r u so much dissappointed before the result.Actuallly IIT is not the end of life may u get a very gud cllg thru AIEEE or BITS
So my frnd don't take tension at this time this time only enjoy & wait for results(or prepare for any other eam whihc u hav)
Take any decision only after the result ot attending the counselling
Don't take the decision in a hurry

Now about prepartion in a drop year:
See actually if u know the concepts i.e if ur basic concepts r strong then only try to do the ques coz ques r the things that make ur concepts more clear & help u in making u understand the applicatiopn of dat concept better
Also yaar don't donate time on just finding answer to any ques but spend time in goin to the depth of ques viewing every aspect or every diff way in whihc u can do that ques.
about buks:
Physics :HC Verma is more than sufficient but if u do all ques in it by the way whihc i hav told above.Also objective Arihant is also gud

About coaching .Actually if ur concepts r gud then no need of it .But as when u analyse a ques then u need a teacher (like my sir) who makes u understand each aspect of ques in whihc u r not getting.So see if u find a teacher who can give u such type of knowledge then only take tuitions otherwise no need of it

waise i think u shud go to a gud tuition (not any reputed 1)
but a gud 1 based on criteria i hav mentioned above as u might not hav gud concepts of topics in 12th

i think self study is the ultimate solution 4 getting into iit.

asu have already completed the jee syllabus in ur 11n12th i think u dont need any classroom coaching.

but if u think ur concepts r yet nt cleared about those topics u can have it.

bt i would suggest u to buy some good books on jee, do correspondence instead of classroom,an try it urself.

hmmm...doesnt matter if u cudnt perform well in JEE-08.... ofcourse u can do he nxt yr... boards nd school will nt be thr to bothr u.... but but but....u urself has to be well determined, nd focussed all thruout the year....u shud have just one thing in ur mind...that if u r dropping a yr, u wont leave any stone unturned, to get into the most premier insti of the country which ppl call 'IITs' as prakhar said, evry studnt starts with a gr8 enthu... but aftr some months...saturation comes...u wont feel like studying.... wenevr u'll open the buks..u'll feel as if u knw evrything... but NO... this all will negatively effect ur preps...plus thr r chances thr will be frustation(its quite obvious)....so if u r ready to face all this..nd still determined enuf to give ur best shot... do give it!!!

as for self study v/s coaching... i personally rate self study bettr... cuz u urself knws ur plus minus points the best.... coaching teachrs can give u support, can clear ur concpts, can solve ur doubts.... but they wont ever write ur xam paper.... if u think u hav means for all this...thn study on ur own.... nd for doubts...we r always here
