it has plenty of scope in future and it has 30% chemistry and 70% phisycs and maths.

it doesn't comprise only of chemistry, as by common perception.. ppl think that chemistry=chemical
that is wrong
it has a lot of physics and mathematics involved.
chemical has applications in oil n manufacturing companies some of which pay handsomely (among the highest packages)
check out the jee brochure for proper details.
u may also refer various courses in chemical from the iit website

HI joh as i am myself a chemical engineering i think i can give u some tips. Chemical engineering has almost nothing to do wih chemistry. It is mainly a type of physics but totally different from what we study in school. It deals with the problem which a manufacturing sector gets when you move a product from lab to industry. For example for a specific cosmetic product may contain a mixture of glycerine and honey. Now when some one makes it in a beakerhe can mix it with his hands only. But when it is to be done in industry you will require special mixers for mixing such high viscous liquids. Operations like this which are nothing in lab may be a big challenge in industry and chemical engineering is all about this unit operations.
As far as jobs and sallaries are concerned it is coming up as one of the best branches specially with coming up of oil sector giants in indian market. So overall i will rate it as a great branch to join

Hi josh!!!!!
After the reply of krishna sir u don't need any thing else......
but i'd like 2 add a few things more.........
Today as all of us know that scope of petroleum industry is growing day by day adn u know that a guy in it can get easily a pay of 10+ lacs p a but then PETRO is a branch of chemical so u can see if a particular branch can be in such a demand then what the whole field can offer u ....... u can imagine!!!!!
And as told by krishna u'll study a lot of phy and maths and it's not just about balancing eqns it's 2 know about certain devices tat operate chemically e.g. the GEYSER in ur bathroom how does iut functions and all ......
SO U CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I WANNA SAY!!!!!!!!
DO RATE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
ASTALAVISTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
