BITS collaborated with MIT .
While I am quite confident IIT-H will do well , my main concern would be the quality of student life.As in no campus activities , no recreational facilities etc. These are espec imp , if you wanna try for MBA.
My advice would be to take Pilani or some other established IIT.
And if course is a big concern , you can get Mech at Pilani pretty easily at your score.
Yes package and opportunities at BITS are great.
And yes loads of BITSians do MBA.Plz check this post(scroll down 5 posts) :

in first 2 years cl;asses will be held in residentlal campus of Ministry of Defense -OFPM. hostels, classrooms, recreation facilities and shopping centre all are witihin OFPM campus...
also this campus is for high profile defence officers man wahan par saari facilities hongi( u cud expect even better recreational facilities ie student life than most present IITs :) )
yeah i do agree wid bits360 dat forgn collab. is no big deal but i do b'live dat collab. wid a forgn institute & collab.with a forgn govt. are entirely diff. things.yes, i know dat teaching methods at bits r d latest in india & similar 2 MIT.Moreover in d counselling seesion at IIT-K a prof. told me dat cultural fests at IIT-Madras will involve IIT-Hyd. students also.student life is a concern at IIT_H (inside campus fer initial 1.5 years) & also at BITS pilani(Outside campus).
My main prob. is dat i'm being offered Mech. at pilani(at present)
& have 2 submit 42000 by 12 july.Mistakingly I've enterd E&I above Mech. & i dont want 2 get instrumentation.Actually im not 100% sure dat I'll get EEE at pilani at 348 score.Should i risk 42000 even when I can get Mech. at IIT-H(confirmed).
2)However , by campus life I mean , the total absence of clubs/assocs etc. They take time to form and develop. They need funding.
3)I don't think that foreign collab will help you guys much.Teaching methods and all will be same as your mentor campus(most likely).
3)WHy don't you want EnI , cuz its 4 courses different from EEE.Usually people take up electives to make up for the missing courses.
Well , the decision to join IIT - H is completely yours. But I'd suggest you talk to people from the IITs and from BITS , face to face and also take their views(As in how much does that foreign collab help , imp of campus life etc)
i dont mean to confuse u......... but the faculty of eee in bits is the best in asia.... moreover it is a fact dat most students aim to da mba after b.tech at the begining of their terms, but their enthusiasm evaporates exponentialy during the four years..... all i want to suggest is that eee is a great branch, and even if u do mba, the bits tag is not far behind the iit tag and moreover u never know abt the new iits.... and again u r absolutely sure to get eee in bits, coz last year the cutoff was 346 n probably it will drop this year.........chose carefully....
rate if useful
Remember one thing, if you do MBA from a good school then whichever school you did your BTech from doesn't matter that much, especially if the MBA is in a completely diff subject than your bachelors. However personally an IIT tag won't hurt and if you don't get through IIM A and have to do from other IIMs or IITs etc, then the BTech degree might count a little more as oppsed to from a top notch MBA school.
dat after dropping a year if one can get a gud branch from an IIT in a very gud city, he shud prefer IIT as it can help me at NUS interview. Moreover Hyd. cant be compared with other IIT locations like patna, bhuvaneshwar(orissa),rupnagar(punjab),chankheda(Guujrat, near Ahmedabad),etc...Till last year AIR 2707 cudnot even dream of getting Mech. at any IIT(even Guwahati).Ofcourse if i had a choice btwn IT-BHU & BITS I wud have opted fer BITS...
AIR 3845 in JEE-08(Rg. No.4084315) got Mech at BHU,last year's closing rank fer Mech. BHU=3280,almost a shift of 600 wich proves dat JEE qualifiers r preferrin new IITs over BHU wich is over 100 years old!!!
IIMs(CAT) is an IQ test unlike IIT where hard work necessarily pays. If you have the ability, a little right direction and some help via coaching/books and some luck will crack the CAT for you. IIT is something totally different. Ask your teachers or mentors or other people who you think can decide whether you are capable or not for IIM A. Basically selection rate for IIM A is 99.7%ile or something like 1 in a 1000 or 1 in 3000 among the common public(given that people giving CAT on average are more intelligent than the average Indian).

i think if u want to do MBA in the future the IIT tag does help u as i knw from my senior IIT friends..BITS is also no less and ur furthur getting a very goodbranch at BITS..so its entirely upto u now ur intrests and everything..and its not about a particular branch students getting good package ..its all about ur performance in the college in ur 4 yr stay there..soo dont be under the illusion that if u take EEE package would automatically be very good..i would in my view tell u to join IIT hyderabad as it is in the IT city and demand would be high in the future..furthur mech is also a good branch..
