Hey these r just rumours. There has not yet been any official announcement from the IITs. And in case the news is true, then there is nothing to worry as everyone will be in the same position like you. And yes there is only one way to complete the course and that is to study........there is no other alternative. BEST OF LUCK.

I have got this from yahooanswers.com A new pattern for IIT-JEE 2007 | A new pattern will greet IIT-JEE aspirants next year. A look at what is in the offing. |
On August 24, the Director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai, announced changes in the pattern of IIT-JEE for 2007 during a news conference. Although the JEE 2006 underwent a pattern change - with the deletion of the second-tier descriptive examination - the further change should not surprise serious aspirants. The reason - hints about future changes in the pattern were given during the time the pattern was altered last. It was in 2006 that the JEE was made a single-day, single-stage examination. The last edition of JEE consisted of three examinations of two hours each. The order of the examination was physics, mathematics and chemistry. The students went into the exam hall at 8 a.m. and finished the last examination by 6 p.m. There were two-hour gaps between two examinations. The new pattern The proposed pattern of JEE would still test the students for six hours in one day. The difference is in the composition of the testing time. JEE 2007 will have two three-hour papers. Each three-hour paper will consist of questions from physics, chemistry and mathematics. So most likely, each of the papers will have three subsections containing questions from the three subjects - with or without prescribed sectional time limit. It was also mentioned during the news conference that the tests would measure the analytical and comprehension skills of the test-taker. Like last year, the papers would follow the multiple-choice question format. These take after the pattern that is in existence today. Students' perspective Because of the new pattern, it is likely that the total time - from the start of the first examination to the end of the last exam - will be reduced by 20 per cent when compared to last year. If we assume an interval of two hours between the examinations as last year, then the students will be inside the "exam zone" for eight hours instead of 10 hours. This is significant, as students cannot allow their concentration to drift even during interval time, as they need to get back to their peak once the next examination starts. Overall, this should result in the reduction of stress. Mental stamina plays an important role in long-duration testing. Students will be slightly relieved on this front. The reduction in the number of papers - from three to two - also will ease the stress on students. Although the total testing time remains constant, students are trained to look at hurdles with a quantitative bent of mind. And two is "less" than three. It is mentioned that both papers will consist of physics, chemistry and mathematics as test areas. This is a comforting factor for the students. In case a student has not done well in a particular subject in the first paper, he has the opportunity to "get even" in the next paper. To this extent the student will find that all "his subject eggs are not in the same time basket." This is important as students are allotted only one hour per subject in a paper. Under time-stress, it is very likely that a student will perform below par in his otherwise favourite subject. He/she has the opportunity to bounce back in the second innings - the second paper. If the pattern of questions happens to be similar in the second paper, then most likely the student will do well in his second outing. Since both papers will follow the multiple-choice question format, the student can be assured that there will not be any deviation from the basic intention of the pattern change of last year - to check the conceptual clarity of the aspirants. Different types of combinations might appear as they did last year, but the basic premise of testing will, in all likelihood, remain the same. This means that a serious aspirant need not change his fundamental style of preparation that he has followed for the last several months. In the final analysis, the new pattern implicitly vets the time-honoured parameters that academicians have been advocating for selection into premier institutes of higher learning in technology studies - "conceptual strength," "depth of knowledge" and "aptitude for engineering studies." Possible patterns The number of questions in each paper could be between 45 and 70. It may be recalled that in 2006, each two-hour paper focusing on one subject, had 40 questions. Possibility A: Each subject Paper can have all the five different patterns that were used in JEE 2006. Possibility B: Paper I could follow a particular pattern of questions and Paper II could follow another pattern. For example, Paper I could focus on the usual type of MCQs, match the following, etc. Paper II could focus on MCQs with multiple correct answers, questions where the student is expected to "find" the correct answer and record the numerical values by darkening the bubbles and questions based on passages.
