a mix of electrical and electronics i guess. much better than electrical probably and i think even better than mechanical.

its more of physics...its an interesting branch but depends what u want to do!
if u want a fast job ull end up in an IT company..so ur branch doesnt matter.i think instrumentation will also be a good choice but it just depends where u do it
as long as u study hard all branches r good.ur branch will not matter much if u want to get into management this shoule not be a worry.butttttttt.....think and collect information about ur branch before u choose it.good luck.

Answered your questions. As far as placements are concerned I don't think it should be a problem just that unless you do it from a good college(top 20 or so) you may not get direct on campus employment in a core company.
