It might be easy. If u get in some other gud college, then its difficult. For example, wanting iit, not getting it, getting NIT Trichy, then it is very difficult to drop. Because, if u drop a year n dont get again, u wud have wasted a year in a gud college.
If u r not gettin a good college, think of some1 u hate the most n study hard. Lol.... Hate therapy always works! Really ! Take it as a sort of revenge on tat person, study hard n succeed.

No.. It is very tough.. I'd got a rank of arnd 4k last yr. I decided to go for a drop. Everytime I did badly in a mock test, all I could think of was what if i had taken admission this year only. Same after I screwed up my JEE. However confident you are, self-doubt will come as a part of the package deal when taking a drop. But studying will be comparitively easier, your concepts will become crystal clear. But it will still come down to only one day's performance.. JEE.. And anything can happen on that one day. No guarantees.. If you're willing to take that risk, go ahead.. I did. And inspite of everything I just said, if I could go back in time, and change it, I wouldn't...
But yes, remaining motivated is tough..I lost interest for about a month, during december.. But fortunately, you're not short on time when you're taking a drop..

yup its tough.. but very fruitful if you stick at it. i dropped last yr and gave jee again. i dint even get a rank last yr. now i expect a good one. but if you want to take a drop, you should do only that. dont take admission anywhere. i suggest going to kota or even andhra pradesh and join a reputed institute. if u really want it, dont wory about the cost of the things.. you can pay your parents back later.
consider it very seriously. one year means almost hell.. if you find a friend who has the same interest of taking a drop, the 2 of you do it together. but you will have to be very very serious about it becos if u lose.. then you will have nothing to fall back on.

well.. i think it is necessary to detach yourself from all the distractions around you.. in kota, for a serious person there is nothing to do but study.. true there are cyber cafes and movies and all,but being there with the competition of your calsses is very different..
im my 1 yr there, i NEVER saw a single movie. and i went to the cyber cafe ONCE.. that 2 to download BITs form and AIEEE form.
see the difference. any way its your choice.

I completely agree.MOST OF MY FRIENDS WHO JOINED NIT AND TRIED FOR JEE HAVE SCREWED UP BOTH.IN FACT ONLY 2OF 10 ARE SCORING MORE THAN 220.SO BETTER TO BE ON ONE SIDE THAN TO SIT ON THE FENCE

hey guys a senior of mine got 2700 rank in IIT. He took admn. in nit kurukshetra and gave another attempt at jee. He got 1100 rank and is enjoying.
Most of the people around me suggest that, take admn. somewhere and try again so that u don't waste a year. What say?

I'm not telling you not to drop a year.. In fact, my advice is actually very pointless, seeing as I haven't told you either to take or not to take a drop.. Self study should definitely not be an option.. You cannot sit at home and study by yourself.. Whoever you are, you just cannot do that.. Joining a coaching institute is a must.. But not necessary to go to Kota.. I joined one in Mumbai itself where I live. And I think it served as good a purpose as KOTA.. My prep was very good, it's just the final exam that you have to watch out for..
