i'll be appearing for IIT in 2008.i hav been going for coaching for IIT since last year.but i haven't taken it so seriously, though my work has been regular.

am a state board student.

and hardworking. my effort putting capacity is quite high.

now i want to do focussed study for IIT, so that i get into IIT.

pls send me genuine tips, on how to do it.

how many hrs to put up and the strategy.

and the books that i should do. should i do NCERT?

i hav been doing H.C.Verma, R.D.Sharma and O.P.Agarwal. i am good at physics ,ok in maths and horrible in chemistry.

pls advice as to how do i improve ?

can i cover up in these remaining months?

In technological world , CSE is the better option and as now world is becoming more and more modernised , it has now become important to have atleasat a degree or so in CSE because of the folowing reasons:
* Most competative field
*People who take are highly paid !
*Interresting too- have better scope of taking research and thus increasing our educational qualification.
*Lasrgest chances of fetting jobs.
BOOKS:

*Do HC verma fr physics
*P bahadur and ncert fr inorganic and physical
*And morrison and boyd fr organic
*For maths i say do RD sharma fr ur board exams
*and ARIHANT series fr JEE

Your preparation should be like this:
* First make a timetable for ur preparation
* Follow the routine - dont break it in the middle
* Should have self confidence (MUST)
* Find time atleast 8 hrs daily for studying.
* Also keep in mind to play (for me its cricket daily at 5 pm to 6.30)
* Be cool always
* Join for some correspondence course (such as narayans)
* Study also the NCERT books
* Spend some time in goiit website - interact with friends
* For physics - HV Verma's is a must

Calculus-- I A maron (many topics have to be deleted, bt overall its a nice one for getting the concepts)

algebra- hall nd knight

and for the rest of topics, arihant and TMH is gud, and for practice too

Chemistry

physical-- RCM (bharti bhawan publications), P Bahadur

organic - morrison-boyd, sanyal and sanyal, I L finar(many thing shave too be deleted) and for practising the questions, do frm TMH ...it has gud questions...

inorganic, just text-buk , or any refrence buk like ABC

nd dnt neglect the NCERT at any cost

Physics

HC Verma ...the book is bible of physics, nd if u study it "religiously", u'll get everything in physics,

NCERT for class 11-12

irodov for practising sums...(but not all)

u have been to coaching , so u must be having some study material frm thr too, if u do this much , religiously.... i think u can crack jee... by religiously i mean to say that, with all devotion and determination, nt just cuz ur parents want u to be thr, or one of ur frnd is competing for it, so u shud also.... but cuz u really want to get thru...

as far as strategy is concenrned, it depends entirely on u, cuz its u and only u who has to manage the tym.... between ur boards and coaching...and evrything else, preparing for jee, doesnt mean no parties, no fun... do everything, but never let ur studies suffer at any cost, u have one yr, make deadlines for a months say, and stick to it, no matter what happens.... practice on a regular basis... and the more u practice, the more u'll get the knwledge, and the more u'll be confident... confidence is the thing, which will help u the most, while writing an exam.... and also right frm the start, maintain ur speed of doing sums... with accuracy... both are needed !!!

i will surely agree with magiclko..
apart from that, i would suggest..
read d NCERTs very thoroughly.. the jee is hugely based on them now..
about the strategy,
i can tell u wat i used to do, u may edit and suit it 4 urself..
u shud hav a full fledged plan for d whole yr.(divided among 4-5 parts) first of all point out ur strengths n weaknesses so that you devote time accordingly. set weekly targets.. and keep a day 4 revision. take tests seriously. while practising also, do the ques time bound, but at d same time try to solve a ques by urself only.. dont look up d ans at d back...instead, ask ur teachers..
do study chem even if u dont like it, its very imp.
n do give some test series .. it helps.

and tell u what.. most ppl do chem in 12th only..(specially inorganic)
no probs.. u can surely do it now.. but u have to give proper time. dont neglect it
