Hello,

I have joined goiit yesterday and I found it really helpful but I am not getting what are these nickels? how can I get them? In refer a friend section they ask for Email ID of friends but I don't have it.I am gonna be left with 2 nickels after submitting this question so please reply early.

Heyyy .. u still must be having three nickels, coz u only use nickels while asking ques. to Experts not on "Discuss with Community".
and refering friends is the only way u can earn nickels

hmmmm......

Nickel is the goIIT currency which you have, in order to ask questions from the experts. When you join goIIT, you get 5 nickels by default. for every question you as you spend one nickel. If you wish to earn more nickels, you have to refer friends. If a friend of yours joins, you get 2 nickels (i.e. 2 more questions to ask the experts).

The bigger the community, the lesser you'll need the experts for help, as your friends will help you only. So get more friends involved and help others. The expert team is a very reputed and busy gang, so we cant ping them all the time. That is why the concept of nickel evolved on the site. More documentation on this will be up by day after tomorrow.

also you dont need to spend nickels while asking the community. nickels are spent only when you ask an expert. so use it wisely!

Hey but how to send a question to the community after joining and getting 6 nickels?

Dear hermionie,

Once you are in the team, all you gotta do is just click on the "discuss with community" tab, select a forum of your choice an then click the "new topic". And viola! you can ask the gang. To ask an expert, click on "ask an expert" tab, select forum of your choice and then aks the query there. and let the magic begin at hogwarts

I wonder if all this 'the nickel is the currency' thing is proving to be helpful for the students.I mean, introverts like me do not really know many people around and most of my classmates were members before I joined.Consequently, I have not earned a single nickel since joining.I suggest that nickels may be awarded to those who get a 'salute' for their answer, or some other system may be put in place which does not undermine the very reason why the nickel exists i.e. to get more people to join.What does the Administration think about this idea?Please, help me and many others like me by considering something on these lines.Thanks.
