nope...see by self study ur only satisfying urself with partly buks/ correspondence material..but an atmosphere of competition is there is coaching classeds..plus tests n home work ...so it helps to make u consistent in performing gud in tests...iit-jee is an objective paper --a more dedication is required rather thn havng ur self satisfied with self study!

now -a-days its becoming commercial ......... even in the case of education. think generally , before 20 or 30 years from now are there any coaching classes?in india for iit jee..... people worked hard and they get on with the exam...if u have confidence in urself just carry on...................... if u need any motivation just read the book

PSYCOLOFY FOR SUCCESS  IN IIT JEE  very good book...................

You can crack JEE by pure self study. But that is far more time consuming, much more difficult, far more flawed, may not give equal performance, needs a much better aptitude and in short is usually not recommended. Coaching saves time, 1yr is not really enuf for prep any longer if you want to study each and every book yourself.

yes, why not. i give you an example. my family friend Amit Aggrawal took only maths tuition from not so good teacher and studied phy and chem himself. he good AIR-2 in JEE. moreover he got admission in Boston University (US) on scholarship which userd to give him $3300 apart from room, medical expenses, trips to hometown etc. to pursue his PhD. now he has got a high profile job in Yahoo! with income of $165000 (about Rs. 70 lac) per annum.

Arre , first note that it is only self-study which is going to land you up in IIT. Coaching classes only give you a direction and keep you on your path.

Your question should have been "Can I qualify IIT JEE with no coaching class"

Well , you must know that for clearing any entrance exam 90 % of the contribution comes from the self and the rest 10 % from guidance. However , how this 90 % of time or say hard work is gonna be spent entirely depends of the rest 10 %.

So , my opinion is that , coaching is necessary. In case , you can't afford , you must get hold of a person who will tell you what to do and what not for the JEE i.e. which books to follow and how to plan your time.

Coaching also helps you in one way. You get infact more time to study as your doubts are cleared by your professors. In ablesense of it ,you will have to do your own research and ask your friends - both of which cannot be trusted.
