vit is awesome .......thats all i can say........in coming 4 yrs trust me it will definitely come in the league of bits pilani...........i assure u that.....right now if uget good branches.....in trichy n warangal and suratkal then go.....otherwise vit rocks.....dont go to stupid nits such as nit jaipur, raipur, silchar patna etc
dude look at vits infrastructure....placement......no of .internation internships........do u know even schlumberger has decided to visit VIT.......VIT ROCKS........if u get warangal , suratkal , trichy then u might think other wise go to vit........it has a great future
well i wont really compare vit with other colleges because it creates lot of clashes ..........n i dont really want that
first i m giving u the negative pts of vit
1>quite at a remote part of the country.....no direct train or flight available.....the weather is allways set up to make u feel uncomfortable....
2> LECTURERS ARE MEDIOCRE TO the last degree....good ones start from sr lecturers assistant proffessors and proffessors.....actually ece department has the highest no. of iit proffessors....n they are a bit of psychos...
3>the management is too nosy .....so u better mind ur own buisness.
4>they charge a lot for the mess food.......unnecessarily high charges......
5> very high intake......which deteoriates the overall experience of education
6>too many mangement quota seats......about 20 percent in each branch
now positive pts
1> if ur good and are willing to study every one is there to help u........quite a lot research oppurtunities also
2 > labs are excellent.......
3> placement is going up the ladder like any thing even schlumberger is coming.......
4> last yr about 30 people went for international internships from my department........i think its a record of its own....NO nits have achieved that so far
5>the average placement package this yr is 3.5lpa.....which is quite healthy...
6> an excellent environment for study....uif u take ur oppurtunities u will be benifited all the time
7 >even proffessors from iit chennai and other foreign universities come for weeks and teach a topic.......or help in research
what i feel z vit z a private over concerned for z reputation and may give u fake info.
still I am not able to digest its 12th rank in india today survey. I know many a people who went there by paying donations.so real picture of this college z still blurred.
i have seen daiict faculty it z awesome. if u r getting ICT there then this z definitely a better choice as students mental level z definitely higher in daiict as z closing rank z aieee 10000+-1000,but vit I suppose z vitee10000
also if someone says there were too many iternational internships which z incomparable with nits then another fact is student strength considering only general category z also incomparable. in nits there r very few students unlike vit.
take a proper decision as norms of aieee seat allocation has changed u can read about it in ccb.nic.in.
find the branches in nits which u r getting and may be that cud be a real good one
go for vit mate .....since ur talking about nits......if u were talking about bits and iiits then i would have said go for them ......but since its the case of nits i will firmly say go for vit without .....dont even think about leaving it.......

well yes vits cutoff through aieee for ece is 7000 not 10000+
and about management students.......doent an nit have quite a large no of sc st reservations and state reservations.......do you know people with 40000 air also get nit durgapur........so the quality decreases there also.......and vit has less fees compared to thapar and all........so some how it has got to get the funds.......it atleast gives the priviledge to the pockets of merit students.........
my final verdict vit does screw up in a lot of place but still stands on top ....the reasons are given in the earlier posts of this thread.........VIT ROCKS

well at ur rank as per the new aieee format for nits ur chances for getting a good nit is low.......so u should go for vit as u hv a good branch there too....and besides it has a high reppo...which matters........and vit is quite cheaper than thapar nd other private ones........GO FOR VIT
