i myself have been lookin thru the wb colleges. if you have cleared the aieee exam then go for it . workshops in JU are not as good as NITs(applicable only for mech).never the less iwud say that even the techno group or the shibpur coll has better  workshops than JU(pesonal opinion). But elec and comp. SC. is better in jadavpur. check the website www.csc-et.org for last year's cut offs. the cut offs show hardly any difference.

 

then why is it that the highest pay package in nits(top nits) higher than JU

 

as far as jadavpur is concerned. no doubt the college is too good in terms of reputation and rankings but did you know that the faculty of jadavpur teaches even in techno group of colleges in kolkata. these colleges have no rankings but the faculty is excellent. jadavpur runs on reputation and name not on faculty. the private colleges are nowadays doing better in kolkata. as a native i know the small problems of jadavpur. and as an onlooker you should keep quiet. in future only pay package helps not the faculty . as far as infrastructure is concerned

shibpur is definitely better(calcutta colleges magazines ref.)
