the answer to this question is 1 just check the answer if it's right i'll tell u the sloution.

u jst draw the graphs of the equation n u'll get it...

y=x-[x] implies the graph of y={x} (fractional part of x)

n the other is the graph of greatest integer function , plot them n u'll get it!!

When you will draw the graph for both, you will get a rhombus { only thing enclosed by graphs of both equations }.

Now you can well calculate, its area. And it is equal to 1.

Note : If you still have problem, i can make a graph and post it for you.

well let me tell u about [x] function

now try to draw a diagram in two phases ..

first for interval [0,1) .. so here [x] = 0 and x - [x] = x

so u can easily plot them

then for interval [1,2) .. here [x] = 1 and x - [x] = x - 1

so now this can also be plotted ..

now we get a parrellogram whose area can be easily calculated

the answer will come out to be 1
