hey.. i have got into nit surathkal.. branch-computer scince..
can anyone give me some info about the college.... and how good is cs in nitk..

NIT Surathkal is the third ranked NIT at the moment after trichy and warangal. But according to experts it is on the decline .However the good news for u is that the comp sc at surathkal is among the best after the iits. plus it has an airport nearby which enables most of the very best IT companies to come there. The presence of an airport makes a lot of difference. BTW I have taken CS at NIT Warangal.

Hi 2 both of u guys!!!!

It is a well known fact that these 3 NITs i.e. NIT T,S,W are the best NITs and there best dept. are given below-

NIT T- CS
NIT W- MECH/EEE
NITK S- ECE

Overall amongst NITs NIT T is still the best following it is NIT W and then at a decline is NITK S!!!!!!

Dude.........Teri Life Ab Officially Ban Gayi........NIT Surathkal Warangal and Trichy are as good as IITs.......among NITs these three are best for everything......and u got what may be the BEST BRANCH in ONE OF THE BEST INSTITUTES.......I dont think u need any info regarding the college......its officially one of the best colleges in the country.....

See yaar i've just put down the best departments of the top 3 nits!!!!

So indirectly i wanna say that the CSE dept. of NIT T is best followed by NIT W and at last it is NITK S!!!!!

As far as the college (NITK S) is concerned u may get easily a package of 5+ or so in ur branch!!!

And the academic env. is very good and if u wanna go for MBA etc. it gives u a good backbone!!!!!!!!!

Just want to comment.

1)I really don't know how u r saying things like" CS is best there after IITs ".I thought that IIIT-H has best CS after IITs.And what about BITS/NSIT/others???

2)BITS-Pilani's closest airport is almost 200kms+(Jaipur/Delhi).Also the closest rail stn is over 25 kms(Loharu and Chirwa).The place itself is in the middle of the desert.

3)This one is from a guy who actually went there for counselling for Electronics , but came to BPGC. There is a huge chemical factory nearby and most of the campus smells.
But it also has a beach within NIT- Surathkal campus.
