Well , the 2nd round of placements have started and again about 200 students are to be placed.The rest are either in PS-2 or are dualites(So they'll be placed next academic year)
About 30 companies have registered till now.
Last sem:

Till now , placements have taken place for :
1) Yahoo: Took 1 person(had taken 2 last sem)
2)CISCO : Took 4 ppl(Hadn't come last sem)
3) Oracle (Consultancy Services) , took 8(!!) ppl (hadn't come last sem )
4)Redpine Signals: Don't have info , must have taken ~2-3 , also came last sem
5)Wipro and Wipro VLSI , results should be out today.
Interesting Developments :
1) We've got in touch with Lehman Brothers and they are interested in coming next sem.But we'll try to get them this sem itself.
2)A senior guy from Schlumberger came and checked out our campus and was pretty impressed , espec. with our chemical labs(He better be;the labs are absolutely new!).Says Schlum will come next sem , as they have pretty much planned the recruiting stuff for this sem .Again we'll try to get them this sem.
3)BCS Australia is also coming and is offering 60 ,000 AUD per annum(52 116 US$) .Thats gotta be an international placement no doubt!!!!
Will most more info as it comes.
In the end , all I can say is : BITS Rockkkksss!!!

Last semester , Microsoft had taken 7 people , NVidia 2 , Yahoo 2, Samsung 4 and all these big companies are coming again.
A total of 197 students received 305 job offers during the last placement season.
Now , for over 3 years now, BITS Pilani Goa Campus , has been compared to a variety of colleges across India , in order to predict its standing , its quality of placements , etc.
Now , based on this above data , please give your comments.Please remember that this is the first time ever that BPGC is having its placements.

An Update

Updates :
There are 197 students to be placed this season.
Companies by the branch :
(This list is not exhaustive , more companies will be added as they register/as they are alloted dates)
Core Computer Science/Information Systems
-Microsoft
-Yahoo (took 1 this time at 7.63 lpa)
-Oracle (Consultancy Division)
-IBM
(Alll take other branches like EEE/EnI also)

-Satyam selected 87(out of 197!!) , at 3.6 pa for 1.5 year bond , 4.2 lpa for 3 yr bond
-Wipro selected 36 at 3.3lap
-Cognizant selected 50 at 3.3-3.5 lpa
-Accenture (interviews going on)
-Infosys (coming on 1st feb)
These companies are mass recruiters as a lot of students will not join them , as they'd be getting better jobs elsewhere.But these companies are a back up.
Already we have got 100%(more or less) placement within a week of the placement season beginning , thanks to these companies.
Last sem , 197 students received a total of 305 job offers , a lot of it coming from such companies.

Updates
-About the remark that 100% placements have occurred. Currently all except 5 of 197 students have got at least 1 job offer and still almost 21 companies are yet to do their selections.
- Latent View Analytics is also coming , 4 lpa
- Wells Fargo will be offering a salary of $100,000 . Would most likely take just 1 student . Companies like these , in investment banking, Management Consultancy etc. and others which offer International Placements usually select 1-2 people only.

Update
Hewlett Packard (HP) selects 4 at 3.2 lpa.Note that though this salary may sound less , it is nevertheless a CORE JOB(Not IT).Note that HP is a very reputed company and can afford to pay lesser.However , pay rises and transfers abroad are common.
Similar is the case with Infosys.Other IT mass recruiters pay almost 40K more per annum than Infosys , but the training given at Infosys(at their Mysore campus , which is an out-of-this-world experience!! ) makes up for that.
As for average salary , if we calculate the average salary by assuming each student takes only the highest offer he/she has got , then for this sem , it would be around 4.2-4.3 (till now , still a few big companies have to come) and for last sem around 3.7-3.8.
Still many would go for higher studies/get placed off campus/get placed through their PS-2 stations etc.

- Curtain Raiser Today Evening:Amazing performance by a 5 member German Symphony Orchestra with 39 supporting musicians from Goa.
-Tomorrow :14 minute long Indian Navy fly-past airshow .Highlights include the Sea Harrier , Kamov helicopter , Sea King helicopter , Migs etc.
-Famous MTV VJ and DJ Nikhil Chingappa will rock the campus on Day 3.
-Loadz of professional bands coming to battle it out for SeaRock Competition.
-Jive,Salsa,Eating with Chopsticks , Portuguese Tile painting , Mocktail making and many other interesting workshops.

That means Bitsians are paid way less than IITians? I thought Bits was nearly upto par with IITs. I've heard that IITians salaries(starting) are about 80K per month (i.e. 9.6 lpa) (some even more than 12lpa) Thats about 2-3 times that of a Bitsian!

Well there are plenty of people who get those kinds of salaries in BITS too.So how is it way less?
The lowest salaries of the IITs is no way 9.6lpa.Please tell me where you got these figures from.
And this is for the Goa Campus , which is in its first year of placements.

In Pilani? Well it was $100,000 pa , by Schlumberger(Oil Company) last year.
In Goa Campus , Placements are still going on.Till now , however the largest given was 9lpa by Microsoft(Given to 7 people last sem).

OK thats good news. at least some people getting gud salaries. My dads friend is an Mtech IIT and works in US for about $150000 p a. He works in some computer hardware designing.

BTW , I guess you think that the avg at BITS is 4lpa cuz thats what you must have read on the BITS website.Well that figure is for the entire college(incl. all MTech/MSc(2yrs)/PHD etc, along with the students coming from through the BITSAT).
Let me tell you that the avg salaries for CS in Pilani are well over 7lpa.

I really dont understand why people keep asking about the highest pay...is this what u plan to become ...a working machine for some XYZ company thousand light years away from your home.....enjoy ur life ...think of a startup...think of higher studies...there are so many things to do...and beleive me..atleast 90% of the high paid ppl quit their job within an year
