i am student of class XI.most of my batch mates take coachings but i prefer not to do so.i find the schedule highly hectic and that disturbes my self studies. every body talks of the 'tricks' they are taught at the coachings.i want to ask whether there actually are any tricks that can be learnt.will they really be helpful?

kuch to log kahenge look, neither i go for caoching nor for tuition. and i am confident on my self . why dont you check that post by me'SELF STUDY"AT LOUNGE. you will get a lot of people like you there. why don't you see that your biggest trick lies in your brian. you work hard for yourself that means you are different. could you afford, some of those tricks at the cost of your talent and if yes then go there. those teachers can not make you think over a problem.

hi! i completely agree with pink_ele.even i'm preparing for iit without any coaching.the tricks taught in institutions are useful but it may so happen in the examination hall that due to tension the reqd. formula may not strike a person at that pt.so just be sure of the method& as u practice more u will be able to do the prob.much faster than using the tricks.afterall u can never forget the method.u can also deduce ur own shortcuts which u will remember for ever since it is ur formation. so,all the best!

Hi Friend
Believe me, on final day not more than 1 % of "tricks" are helpful. There are few "techniques" to fast calculations etc. IIT people never ask questions on these cliched things.
Better you focus yourself on basic concepts. Its very easy to fool those "tricks" but its impossible to dodge strong basic concepts.
Best of luck

I have been following one leading coaching institue for last two years. Believe me, they give you no tricks, but so much of material that you do not need tricks. Also, tricks are not to be relied upon, at least in JEE. (BOL).

These tricks are just a tool used by coaching institutes to attract students, for example, in their brochure, you may find them saying that they'll teach you 100 tricks in each chapter. But you'll hardly be able to use them on the final day. There, its only the concepts that matter, and believe me, if you have crystal clear concepts, then, nothing can stop you from blasting the paper. The great authors like HC Verma sir would be knowing about these shortcuts, but they don't publish them, because they know better than us. Most of the problems hardly take over 3 minutes to solve, so these tricks will hardly be effective.

Dekh bhai ek baat dhyan se sun. Tricks kya hoti hai pata hai? Tricks dont always mean shortcuts. Tricks also mean that U R able to solve a question by more than one method. Tricks also mean that you find a comparatively shorter method for solving a category of questions etc. Dekh ek baat sun, agar tujhe kisi subject mai interest hai, U like doing questions of that topic, being a human being tumhe jaise jaise usme confidence aata jaayega tumhara man khud karega ki kaise is question ko aur shorter method se kiya jaaye, is mai aur kya techniques lagayi jaa sakti hain becoz that topic is in ur control. For example- I am telling U all these things becoz I have also joined a coaching and they have not taught me a single trick till now although they promise to give us some tricks later. But till now I have made many tricks myself(mostly in coordinate geometry). The moral of the story is-tricks jo tumhe readymade milti hain coaching se woh bhi to kisi insaan ki banayi hain. If they can why can't U. Try what I hav to U once. Try making some tricks in the topic U like. I personally feel that coordinate geometry is a topic where tricks can be made easily. Ek baar tumse kuch tricks ban gayi, U will gain confidence in that and you will keep making ur tricks in future. One more thing, agar kisi book se tricks padhoge to U will have to learn them and JEE day pressurises you so much that there are chances ki tum wahan pe tricks bhool jaao but self made tricks hamesha yaad rehti hain.
All the best Rate if satisfied.
