the ethical debate abt career ... pls contribute

here is a suggestion to all the freinds out there ...

a lot has being quarelled about the institutes and the comparison about them ... people fighting about the fact that their coleges are the best be it bits or IIT or NSIT or NIT etc ... the thing is leading to unnecessary waste of time for so many ppl ...

there someone asks that what to prefer .. bits goa or NIT trichy for the same stream ... and someone answers that nit is bad go to bits... and then someone says on the basis of history that go for trichy .... then the bits guy says that nit is bad and goa is wonderful as it is in the bits banner ...

but when asked about the comparison about the seven IITs guwahati and roorkee get the thumbs down .... they say that guwahati is relatively new ... i guess isnt it a bit of a paradox that the person is contradicting ... which clearly shows seroious lack of knowledge and judgement ...

as a result more and more ppl out here are getting confused over what indeed is the best ... after all when u hear so many opinions dont you get bugged of .. after all them being diifferent from each other ...

all the people please note that each and everyone has a different priority in life .. they are divided n the basis of taste for the branch and the brand etc . when some will go behind cs in a local college over and msc in iit another may do the other way round .. so in a nutshell it is creating just kind of rubbish things ...

and then there is the myth aboout some ppl saying that IIT is the best take nething there ... there again it depends on the person .. is a budding programmer being asked to stop himself and take up civil just because it is an IIT when the person himself knows that his world lies with his computer dowing the right thing ??? ...

or are the ppl too narrow minded to think about IT or computer science to be the only good field exiesting in the engineering stream ... when mechanical or chemical or civil get a straight thumbs down .. has neone seen the future ??

is neone even sure till how much time this computer revolution is going to last or not ...

and in the end .. even if u do go behind comp sc thinking that it is the IN field , do u have the caliber to become someone like bill gates or narayana nurthy ?

or are we just adding to the bunch of so called engineers to this society who in the end are engineers from the worlds third best institutes but are working in banks or financial firms ....

and then we say that india is in a bad condition and will never be able to be at par with the US ... ??

this is what is stalling our mindsets and capabilities in todays age ... that is why india has not still been able to become the superpower ... that is why the technology in India is still backward as compared to say US or japan ?

or is in another terms , education we are getting aimed at increasing our skills and knowledge and working for the society or is it about figuring out the best way to earn more money ... which in the end will be a waste if not utilised ...

i gues this arguement started at a very different note and is leading to a very serious kind of a discussion .. but if not here , if not now then when ?

pls my friends , i have myself been a part of the person who guesses abt colleges and streams etc and i am one who indeed is confused about what do i have to do ...

so i would like to suggest onthing ... ask urself what do u want .. in the best way u can satisfy urself and contribute to the world ... in that way the branch is much more important for me ... not the brand ... be it IIT or MIT or harvard ....

we have to follow our own dreams and not be guided by ppl who themselves need guidence ... so at this stage be your own judge and chose what u have to do in life .

i totally agree with you..we mostly learn how to make money off our skills , but not utlilize them for good...espcially in the IT industry..villages could be much more efficient if they had computeres and software that was easy for them to understand , but nobody cares about such projects because it is not feasible..
