I wonder if all this 'the nickel is the currency' thing is proving to be helpful for the students.I mean, introverts like me do not really know many people around and most of my classmates were members before I joined.Consequently, I have not earned a single nickel since joining.I suggest that nickels may be awarded to those who get a 'salute' for their answer, or some other system may be put in place which does not undermine the very reason why the nickel exists i.e. to get more people to join.What does the Administration think about this idea?Please, help me and many others like me by considering something on these lines.Thanks.

i strongly agree.....most of my friends who r doing iit dont have internet...and those who have arent givin iit......so i am kinda screwed at the moment....even tho i have doubts i cannot ask them....i dun wanna cheat u guyz by inviting myself becuz u r doing a very good job out here

What about the other people (31 uptil now) who have viewed this post? I request all those people who can, in some way, relate to the issue raised here to chip in with their views before the imminent relegation of this topic is to the next page.I wish to know if the concern raised by me and supported by nunoxic has any relevance for the roughly one thausand to two thausand users who log in each day,or is it just a few hapless, self-proclaimed introverts like me who are facing this problem.

me too and also i agree upon the goiit creators part to propogate the site by the nickels medium but i feel the rules on thes shld be relaxed to some extent like takin 1 nickel per ques or sumthin of the sorrt..... if i have said anything wrong please forgive me.

I too agree. I havent used even one. as i feel and have experienced that my friends in this community(all members) are really helpful and are capable of answering any questions. Thank you friends for your suppport.

Still i agree upon that for every salute 5 nickels should be awarded.

hmmm....

well all of you guys rock....so i dont have a choice but to take a stab at answering this one. Nickel is a medium of ensuring quota as the experts can only answer soem set of queries (they all have their regular jobs/studies/projects/phds remember?). So idea was surely propogation through nickels, but at the same time to ensure that we use the nickels very wisely. But i understand the pain. Even the other day I was pointed out the same thing by one of our senior most members Prof. ShyamSunder in one of the senior expert meetings.

However, the idea here is more around the community solving the problems withen themselves, and taking expert help only when there's no answer. Waht we have noticed is that even when people do get the right answers, they dont "accept answers" to get their nickels back! and wait for an expert to just come and verify.

So all we-the moderation team will need from you guys, is to use the nickels wisely and try to crack the problems between urself, or atleast accept answer if you have got the right answer. As for us, we'll try to figure out a way. We will be starting to float some random (or at-times long standing) queries, as what we will be calling a Nickel-Trickle. If a query is marked nickel-trickle, anyone who answers it, and the concerned person accpets the answer, the provider of the correct answer gets a set of nickels in reward.

We'll also start with more activities , where u can get more nickels by helping the community members.. or by contributing articles... one way to do it would be to give nickels to users for each one of their accepted answers.

Give us some time, we'll find more ways. But you guys will have to do your bit too....

I am glad to discover that so many people have expressed their views on this subject.It was most considerate of the Administration to have considered the expressed grievences and come up with a seemingly cure-all solution in the form of 'Nickle-Trickle'. I thank you all for giving a voice to the cause that was, to its credit,were listened to by the Administration.
