Physics departments for all the IITs are extremely well equipped for higher studies. IIT Delhi has some professors like Dr. Ghatak, who have been often named as the father of optical fibers in india. For post graduations, institutes like IISC Bangalore (the one which got more famous because of the unfortunate shootout that took life of one of our most incredible Mathematics professors I have ever studied under - Dr. M. C. Puri), is an outstanding institute to pursue post grad courses.
