Why does everyone prefer CS over any other branch? I have seen people saying IT industry wont be as good as it is now in a few years. How much of this is true? And, how is mechanical engg? I'm asking about its course structure -whether it'll be interesting or not......and, how about its job opportunities, demand, etc.

As many are after CS these days, wont there be stiff job opportunities? Based on my AIEEE rank, I can say I'll get Mech at NIT-Trichy(I'm from TamilNadu) and CS at Warangal. Which one to prefer, provided I have equal interests in both courses, and, how many guys get foreign univ calls for PG from these institutes?
