metalurgy has excellent scope in the future........and if u r doing it in reputed colls like top nit's, all the more better....all the best

metallurgy students are generally picked up by heavy electricals(like BHEL,caterpillar etc),automobile(like tvs,hero,tata motors,etc),steel(like tata steel,SAIL,essar,etc) and oil companies(like NTPC, shell, schlumberger etc).

material sc is the study of semi conductors,ceramics,polymers,nanomaterials(nanotech) while metallurgy is about metals and alloys.As material sc involves areas like semiconductors and nanotech there is awesome scope for research and the future of material sc is really bright.

this branch has evolved a lot in the last decade. 10 years ago the branch was just known as metallurgical eng(bcoz it only dealt with metals n alloys) and the scope was limited.In the last decade the focus has shifted from metals to polymers,semiconductors,nanomaterials and the fortunes of this branch have changed.Now, this branch has a lot of scope.
