yes college matters a lot...u can take laptop frm 1st yr itself in BITS(any campus) and some of d IITs...but in d NITs a m not sure

laptop does help u in ur projects.So u shd take it wth u for your benifit.

U absolutely dont need a laptop.. unless ur a god in programming and other CS stuff.. otheriwse.. bits has 500 comps in its Comp center.. u can access it till 11:30..

hey hi which branch u got(i'm IN 2ND YEAR)?I wud suggest not to take lappie with u as it proves to be a major distraction as u r hooked to movies,games etc and if u r a dualite then 1st yr decides your next 4yrs in terms of u'r branch .But if u can control u'r self and use it judiciously and managing both studies and entertainment then it is a boon.As per tradition only 5% 1st yrites(or atleast in the 1st sem ) bring laptops.So decide carefully
