see if u want to pursue cse then go for bits p,but if u want to pursue core branches then u should join ismu petro dual(the best college in asia for earth sciences + the avg placement is 8.8 lpa+ u can chk website) or itbhu metallurgy(best for meta in india, great placements ) then u should give then ismu electrx ,elec, mech then itbhu cera etc, but dont give iit msc unless ur interested in research see the placements in msc are around 60% (not for all msc branches also few are even lower than that )so better take duals at itbhu or ismu
Give branch the preference and then the institute. If you know that u want 2 get in a particular field and u take up some other irrelated branch and still expect to get placed in your desired field with decent package then u are mistaken. So it is important for u 2 decide whether you want to decide the way your career goes or let IITs , BITS, ISM decide.
So u can't expect the same sort of placements in EEE field as the EEE guys after doing applied geology . You have 2 realise in order 2 get in this field u will be competing with those who have been specialising in this field for 4 yrs. The solution is right in front of u.
Petroleum Engineering and the Geology programmes at ISMU look appealing to me although i haven't researched their course curriculum much. ISMU is the best insti. in India for these courses, as someone above said, and from what've I've heard.
But since you're not interested, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't take BITS.You will get anything of your choice at the main BITS campus. So take EEE at Pilani, : my suggestion. Petroleum mere liye chhod de bhai ;)
